Point brought up by Ryan: When did the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives begin to start regulating fraud and money laundering?

Probably the same time they started regulating child molestation.

You know what they could do to boost funding?

They could make false allegations of beating babies and dealing against a rural church congregation, get lost on the way to raiding it in a bust called "showtime", then lose a gun-battle with those guys, drive over their bodies and cars with tanks, then play recordings of rabbit screams during the ensuing stand-off, and finish things off by burning the whole place down, possibly with snipers in overwatch...?

Oh wait...

Officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms took hundreds of guns from the scene, including AK-47s, assault weapons and high powered rifles.

The number of weapons could top 1,000.

Duh, it was a gun store, of course they had guns. It's not like it was a Head Shop with bongs and crack pipes for sale. If you found 1,000 weapons at one of those, that would be a man bites dog story.

They may have had other feds there like the FBI or Secret Service, but they had to allow the BATFE to go in there and get the guns. Because you need oh-fficial government experts to handle those evil high-powered .22 squirrel rifles, don’tcha know. Darn things might load themselves and go on a rampage.

The ATF has apparently been directed to eventually shut down all gun stores, in a move to gradually prohibit guns. Gun store owners are frequently rousted and harassed these days, without any evidence of wrongdoing.

In 1996, there were 245,000 gun dealers. They are now fewer than 50,000 nationwide. All the difference 10 years can make.

The FBI has for some time been dumping cases off on other agencies even the USSS. What was that date now? The great blow hard told us to forget about it. Gee I wish I was allowed to recall it.

Following the daisy-chain links turned this up:War On Guns Blog

Me, I'm interested in learning more about this "public/private partnership," the contractor partner in the raid, Forfeiture Support Associates. They, their relationship with the government and the people behind them deserve much closer scrutiny and should not be operating under the radar, as they will if we rely on "Authorized Journalists" to provide any kind of oversight.

Forfeiture Support Associates, LLC

And here are the 'professionals' the BATF jackasses are employing:

Perhaps ATF didn't like some of the pics on Cavalry's website, either. For example:
