Media Bias: Is the New York Times really suggesting that the child of an illegal alien who sneaked past the Border Patrol is qualified to be president, but an American war hero born to American parents overseas is not?
There are many such children. Is the Times suggesting they are not "natural-born-citizens" if born in, say, Germany or Japan to parents from Cleveland and Los Angeles, but that children born in Arizona from illegal aliens born in Guadalajara and Vera Cruz are?
John McCain is one of those children, born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 to Roberta (Wright) McCain from Oklahoma and John Sydney McCain Jr. from Indiana, an American sailor who, like McCain's grandfather, would rise to the rank of admiral.
In yet another calculated attempt to derail the McCain candidacy, last Thursday's Times piece by Carl Hulse notes the constitutional reference to being a "natural-born-citizen" as a requirement for the presidency. It is that requirement that keeps Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, stuck in California.
The Times notes that to date, "no American to take the presidential oath has had an official birthplace outside the 50 states" and that there's "confusion" over whether "only those born on American soil can be truly natural born."

When will the Times get off this “proud conservative liberal republic’s” back?. When?
Regards
Every President ever, was born before there even were 50 States.
Semantics?
Sure.
The NY Times is run by idiots.
McCain gets my vote if only to give the editors of the Times, the Post, the Globe and Free Press, heart attacks!
Another reason President Obama will represent CHANGE!

And then email Matt Drudge to tell him that this wonderful Conservative columnist should have a link on his page.
Yes, but only if the child of an illegal alien is a democRat.
Any illegal aliens' children who grow up to become conservatives should be deported to make room for more liberal breeders.
To date, no American to take the presidential oath has been a woman and there is "confusion" over whether all those references to "he" and "his" in Article II of the Constitution (e.g., "He shall hold his office," "Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation," etc.) mean that only those born male are qualified to serve as president.
Of course, I'm not holding my breath for the NYT to make that argument.
