The ricin found in Las Vegas is almost certainly part of a deliberate plot of some kind; authorities continue to insist there was no link to terrorist activity, but now theyve found firearms and an anarchist cookbook.
LAS VEGAS - As police tried to piece together how a rare, deadly poison ended up in a motel for transients, the 57-year-old man who could hold the key lay unconscious in a hospital.
Adding to the mystery, police said firearms and an anarchist type textbook were found in the same room where the ricin was discovered two days later.
Capt. Joseph Lombardo said at a news conference late Friday that the book was tabbed at a spot with information about ricin. Police found the firearms and books on Tuesday after a manager at the Extended Stay America motel called police upon discovering weapons, he said, without elaborating. After authorities seized the book and weapons, tests for ricin were conducted but came back negative, Lombardo said.
He said a 53-year-old friend or relative of the sick man contacted motel management on Feb. 22 to inform them about pets in the room.
Earlier Friday, police Deputy Chief Kathy Suey said the friend or relative found two vials of ricin on Thursday after going to the motel to retrieve the hospitalized mans belongings. Authorities on Friday confirmed that the vials contained ricin. It was unclear how long the vials were in the unoccupied motel room, and whether they might have been overlooked when ricin tests were conducted on Tuesday. Lombardo did not address such questions during the brief news conference.
The only positive tests (were) on the powder in question in the vials, he said.
Authorities said there was no apparent link to terrorist activity, and no indication of any spread of the deadly substance beyond the vials. The 57-year-old man was the last to stay in the room, and has been in critical condition since calling an ambulance on Feb. 14 complaining of respiratory distress.
Authorities offered little more about the mans identity: He left pets in the room and was not considered a suspect. A dog was found dead, but the animal had gone at least a week without food or water, Suey said.
An anarchist cookbook huh? I wonder if that’ll cause the police to revise their working theory that it was just a good citizen trying to develop a cure for cancer in a hotel room.
I remember reading about Richard Kuklinski aka “The Iceman”. He would often times after receiving a batch of cyanide, test it on dogs and other animals to confirm it authentic.
Wonder if it’s the anarchist cookbook that came out in the 60’s or 70’s
Lots for an anarchist to hate in Vegas.
Eventually people aren't going to believe a word any police force member says at this rate.
They have a BAD habit of going off half-cocked before all the facts are in. In other words, they GUESS.
I think it took on a whole new life when it hit the internet and random people could start adding to it. Sort of like a wiki I guess
But if it were anarchists, and they were intending to use the Ricin to kill people as protest against what they hate it would be a "terrorist" attack. Since the government keeps insisting it's not related to terrorism, and the only other use for Ricin is treating cancer then the only logical conclusion one can arrive at is that the authorities believe someone was attempting to cure cancer in a hotel room. OR, the authorities are perpetrating a lie and believe we're just all too stupid to see through them no matter how poorly they lie.
I don’t remember any recipes for ricin in THE Anarcharist’s Cookbook. Lots of stuff on drugs and other mixtures that will get you killed or injured and a bunch of poorly drawn diagrams...Is there another publication of the same name? an update? Inquiring minds want to know..:)
I see
I thought his age made him about right for the original book
Like someone said, maybe the dog didn’t eat for a week once it ate some anthrax.
Hope LV has good security at their water plants.
His name (Fox)
Roger Van Burgen Dorff
I am starting to think “no link to terrorist activity” is code for “it’s terrorism”.
Yesterday, there was an absolute deluge of aircraft and helicopter activity with the ATF, FBI, Homeland Security, and others all arriving to investigate.
>>”Roger Van Burgen Dorff”
Ok. So why would the authorities be shy about giving out his name? Holding it back is ridiculous.
penelopesire’s find with the biological sciences univ. in Turkey and Thomas Tholen may have caught their attention.
Nothing to see here, move along, move along...

The Luxor moved their buffet to the lower level, one of the reasons was (at least one) patron who had lost the farm, dropped in uninvited..from one of the balconies-without using the elevator! (True story, but kept very quiet.)
Never know what the future holds.
“penelopesires find with the biological sciences univ. in Turkey and Thomas Tholen may have caught their attention.”
Caveat: Don’t know if it is the same ‘Thomas Tholen’..just waiting on a middle initial to leak.
It is rather strange though..and worth leaving on the table for now.
Thanks for the ping.
Rather, use professionally written materials such as

all are on the web or can be purchased from the web, as are many other Special Forces handbooks and like.
The chemicals listed are dangerous, possession of some are illegal in many states. Making explosives at home, while a fun and fulling hobby, can lead to unintended consequences.
Thanks for the info. Keep watching and reporting.
Negative news is a BIG no-no
in Las Vegas.
I was at the Tropicana about
8 yrs ago, and after a day
or two I noticed an odd smell
when I went into the bathroom
that I couldn’t trace.
A day later, there was a flurry
of security, cops, even one on
a bike at a room two doors down.
Suicide.
When I mentioned it to the concierge,
she said it happens all the time and
is always kept quiet.
HTF do you always manage to be in the middle of this stuff, LOL?
Interesting tidbit- thanks for posting. If this wasn’t a BIG deal- why would they send so many officials from the alphabets?
A Roger Dorff from Minnesota just recently buried his son who served in Iraq..........
the name may be Bergendorff
It's Friday, the weekend, it's cold in D.C., and Vegas sounds more interesting.
The Feds were called in immediately
and were on the scene in about an hour.

They aren’t fooling around, it’s just
that we aren’t going to be told anything
until they get some kind of handle on
this mystery.
The “move along” script is so juvenile
and disingenuous, but panic in Vegas
Moneyville would be horrendous.
I was at a trade show in Chicago on 9/11,
thousands of attendees .. the panic and
chaos to get out was something else, and
the airports were shut down. Buses and
rental cars were depleted of stock in a
flash. It turned nuts very quickly.
That was on the 29th. Coma Dude went to the hospital on the 14....Police searched the room TWICE between the 26 and 29. The ‘anarchist TYPE textbook’ and guns were found between the 26 and 28..BEFORE THE VIALS OF RICIN were turned in on the night of the 28th.
National Guard on scene on the 29th.
That’s the drip drip drip on the timeline I can piece together from reports anyway.
Criminals poison people on a regular basis. Usually without a political or religious motivation. Ricin is highly toxic, has no known antidote, and is relatively easy to produce. There is no evidence (yet) that this was part of an organized effort to terrorize the citizenry.
I would be far more concerned if they found a dangerous substance that is difficult and expensive to obtain, as that would suggest the involvement of terrorist groups or rogue governments.
It is best to be prepared with the proper technical and tactical information that will allow one to protect his family and nation should the need arise. Being aware, of course, that one must be careful and informed as to what they are doing.
Not if the recipe worked. That thing is notorious for it’s bad info.
Nice to see you, long time.
