What a very windy day in Westminster! Great for the flags, but not so great for my sign, which was already starting to come off the foam board.
The wind finished off the job. At least I managed to save the sign several times from blowing all the way down Main Street!
The good thing about the wind was that it blew several family members into Westminster. PatrioticMarineMom (PMM) had the wonderful surprise of her Marine son, Josh coming home for a visit. Originally, PMM and I were to be the only ones standing out for the day. Because of the cold and especially the wind, it is not good for my son, Chris to be outside for long periods of time. When we found out that his best friend was home visiting, Chris just couldn't miss the opportunity to see Josh. PMM brought her youngest son, Adam to the Rally. He was quite entertaining and good company. Adam waved to people as PMM and I held on tightly to our signs! Bob's USA flag was really whipping in the wind. Because of the direction of the wind, Chris needed his back to the wind so Josh kept him company as they stood next to the building where it wasn't as bad. After maybe an hour, it was just too cold and windy for Chris, so the boys spent time in the warm van, jamming out to tunes and talking. Good quality time for 2 teenage friends that don't see each other as often as they would like.
Meanwhile, PMM, Adam, my hubby and I received lots of beeps, waves and thumbs up. A man walked by and actually patted me on the back a few times and said "Good for you". Fair is fair and my hubby was complimented by an older lady. She liked his USA flag and Steelers hat (You and I have better taste, Mr. T! Go EAGLES!) She shook his hand and when hubby started to pull his hand away, she told him this was not the ordinary handshake and showed him how to do the cool handshake. You know the one where you do 4 different things? That was pretty funny. Not too many exciting events for the day, but most importantly, we got the usual positive responses in support of our troops.
PMMs oldest son and girlfriend also dropped by to say hello. My brother drove by and shouted a big "OOORAH"! He later parked and came to talk to us for a little bit.
You just never know who the wind is going to blow into Westminster! Like the title says: "Family, Friends and Gusty Winds!
Best friends, Chris and Josh

Please join us every Saturday from 1-3pm. We especially need extra boots on the corner, on the 2nd and last Saturday of each month, when we counter protest the moonbats. The Westminster Gathering/FReep is located on the east side of E. Main Street opposite the library at 50 East Main Street. There is public parking on Winters Street. Follow the signs.
DC Chapter ping!
Blow on into this AAR for a warm visit, unlike those who visited during the FReep on Saturday.
RockerMom - Really glad you had so many people stopping by.
Ummm, Let me see, "man", read - handsome, tall, and an then "older lady" for your hubby. I read media writer embellishment in this article. :-))
