Obama: Sermon on the Mount supports gay civil unions (Obama derides the Bible)
Baptist Press ^

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (BP)--Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama defended his belief in same-sex civil unions March 2 by referencing Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and then implicitly criticizing those who view Romans as a binding teaching on homosexuality.

Obama made the comments during a question-and-answer session with voters in Nelsonville, Ohio. A local pastor asked Obama how he plans to win the votes of evangelical voters when they disagree with him on moral issues.

"I believe in civil unions that allow a same-sex couple to visit each other in a hospital or transfer property to each other," he said, referring to unions that grant all the legal benefits of marriage, minus the name. "I don't think it should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state. If people find that controversial, then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans. That's my view. But we can have a respectful disagreement on that."

The Sermon on the Mount is found in Matthew 5-7, the passage in Romans is found in chapter 1, verses 26-32.

But Obama's quote may open him up to further criticism from evangelicals, because it's a common evangelical belief that all of Scripture is inspired by God and equally authoritative -- that is, the words of Jesus in Matthew are just as inspired as the words of Paul in Romans. Although it is often argued by homosexual activists that Jesus said nothing about same-sex relationships, He in fact defined marriage as between one man and one woman in such passages as Mark 10:6-9.

By distorting and twisting Scripture around in this fashion, Obama shows he is an antichrist, one of many around today. His father the devil, no doubt is proud. Even the devil can quote scripture (and use it out of context).

He twists certain passages to fit his agenda, and derides the others that clearly oppose his agenda, and slashes out against true believers that take the bible in context. That is clearly ungodly, un-Christian behavior. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Yup, for 2000 years no one in Christianity divined the Sermon on the Mount to approve of homosexuality and gay marriage, but now we have in our midst a man who provides us with the certainty that it does and that it contradicts St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans. Oh, we are blessed to have such a prophet in our midst!

"now if I could find that Obama "second coming" jpg"

That, no doubt, will be posted in the NY Slimes, sometimes tomorrow, if B.O. sweeps all 4 states in today's primaries.

Well, Obama isn't a bible scholar. (Master of the obvious!)

Apparently, Obama thinks he knows what Jesus meant better than did the Apostles Peter, James, John, and Paul.

Maybe he didn’t make it past Genesis 2:24

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Someone said earlier that the guy in the limo failed the polygraph. I haven’t read anything to the contrary. Anyone have links?

Still some controversy over whether the test was legit or a setup. The second polygraph expert felt there were some problems with the testing. The people that did the test cancelled payment on Sinclair's check and there is legal action pending for breach. I don't know how serious to take this soap opera, but this guy is not going away. Here's a few links covering the ongoing saga if you want to catch up:

Sermon on the Brokeback Mount?

LMAO

Obama and his fellow Liberals claiming that God supports Sodomy, Killing babies, and banning public prayer, only shows that they do not know God, and they don't see the harm in lying about it.

The DEMS have a gay running against a lesbian, who are the depraved and deviant to vote for in their primary?

Obama says he is a "devout christian" who believes in the wanton destruction of babies in the womb via abortion on demand and openly supports homosexuality; falsely claiming that Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount validates it, while at the same time denying Romans 1's clear and absolute condemnation of homosexuality, as authoritative on the subject.

Barack Obama's "open letter concerning LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) equality in America." on his Web site proves he is no Christian.

"As your President, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws," Obama said in the letter. "I personally believe that civil unions represent the best way to secure that equal treatment. But I also believe that the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to decide on their own how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples--whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union, or a civil marriage."

Based upon his stated beliefs regarding the above, the man is a liar; he is no "Christian" but a wolf in sheep’s clothing seeking to deceive the masses with his falsehoods and totally unworthy to hold the office of President of the United States.

“Um, Mr. Obama, maybe you’ve not read the Bible much but there’s nothing ‘obscure’ about the passage in Romans...”

I think when he referred to “The Bible” he meant the book “Soul On Ice”.

Obama's been listening to "gay Christian" theologists who are know for distorting scripture to fit their cause.

Nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality condoned and everywhere it is mentioned, it is condemned. Couldn't be anymore clear.

But...he’s the political savior of the left...

He’s a master at pandering to the PC multi-culti crowd, and dresses up his moral relativism in some mighty fine rhetoric. It’s enough to sway the sheeple who spend their days feeding at the public trough and demand that others do the same.

It’s well past time for us to reclaim this grand experiment, IMO.

It is clear from Obama’s pronouncement(s) that he would NOT have a “hands off” policy on gay and lesbian issues. He would be “active” on this.

That indicates he would make another attempt, after Bill Clinton’s, to force OPEN gays and lesbians on the U. S. Armed Forces - to try to overrule the current “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which works well.

That would mean that aggressive gays and lesbians could, subsequently, openly show their inclinations of the day while on duty or off, such as holding hands, kissing, or having a roll in the bunk - all amidst the troops.

That would be the end to all order and discipline; the end of the U. S. Armed Forces; and, subsequently, the termination of the defense of our nation.

Gays and lesbians would become a PROTECTED GROUP within the military - any action against them for disrupting morale would entail going through endless PROCEDURES and APPEALS.

If gay and lesbian activists did not like the outcome of these procedures, they would simply go to the Democrats in Congress (who are likely to hold the majorities) and have hearings to harass, overrule and end the careers of those who have the temerity to protect our military and our nation.

Plenty of gays and lesbians have served and currently serve with honor and distinction in the U. S. military under “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Most have no desire to be outed, nor to enter into an endless and ultimately destructive civil war within our military.

Leaders who lie about what God says are held responsible for misleading their people.
Hear the word of God in Jeremiah 23:1 &
2...”Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of My pasture!...behold, I am
about to attend to you for the evil or your deeds,” declares the Lord.” God does indeed hold those in power
responsible. And this goes for every pro-death spokesperson, every pro-death Senator, Congressman, and President.
