Terri Schiavo's Family Launches New Radio Program on Protecting the Disabled

Tampa, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The foundation that Terri Schiavo's family created after her death is continuing its efforts to help the elderly and disabled obtain appropriate medical care. The foundation is launching a new radio program on a Tampa station that will be simulcast on the Internet and later expanded to other Florida stations.

The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation will start the new America's Lifeline program this weekend life from the Tampa studios of Talk Radio 860 WGUL, a Christian station.

Prominent radio health care advocate Cary Hall will co-sponsor the program along with Terri's brother Bobby Schinder and her sister Suzanne Vitadamo, the foundation's directors.

Hall is also the host of a successful radio show called The Health Insurance Advocate which broadcasts from two Midwest stations.

"America's Lifeline is something we've wanted to do for some time," Vitadamo told LifeNews.com on Thursday.

"With Cary Hall's health care expertise my family's experience trying to save Terri, and now running her foundation which works to save those like Terri, we'll be able to educate Americans and raise awareness about the euthanasia movement like never before," she added.

Vitadamo said the program would focus on controversial cases of people who have been subjected to potential euthanasia or denial of lifesaving medical treatment, such as Lauren Richardson in Delaware.

It will help people learn about the best advanced directives for treatment, learn about the dangers of assisted suicide, focus on state and federal laws and explain how hospice care can be helpful.

The program will also delve into the controversial futile care theory whereby hospitals and doctors are more routinely giving up on providing care for patients they consider "too far gone."

The America's Lifeline debut is set for 3 PM EST on Saturday, March 15, 2008 and it will also be streamed worldwide via the Internet at http://860wgul.townhall.com.

The program is poised to expand into other Florida radio markets including Orlando and Miami.

Yep. Party allegiance over one’s sworn duties.

Obama strikes me as being easily led, like a college kid, but it seems he should have outgrown that by now.

You’re a great fighter for life!

The Bush family just doesn’t fight. President Bush said he would not join other countries in boycotting the Communist China olympics becuase of China’s attacks on Tibet.

Another Bush with no fight in him.

“At least we found out the truth about Jeb, otherwise he might have become president one day ..”

Jeb could still become president if Senator McCain picks him as VP. He is one of the names being floated around.

Personally, though, I think people have Bush burn-out, but then many also have Clinton burn out, but anything can happen.

We might get laughed at for saying it, but I do believe Jeb Bush’s Pontius Pilate performance on that fateful time woke up enough people to lay a stumbling block in his path to Pennsylvania Avenue. Many have laughed and sneered, but our darkest enemies remind us constantly of the effect Terri’s Legacy has on us all. McCain could well lose for making a selection like that even up against super losers like Hill and BO.

Three years ago today, it sounded like good news...

.....................................

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- As Congress and President George W. Bush rushed into place a law granting federal court jurisdiction in the case of severely brain-damaged Terri Schindler Schiavo, Catholic leaders emphasized that she must continue to be given nutrition.

The law signed by Bush in the early morning hours of March 21 allowed Schiavo's parents to ask a federal judge to order reinserted a feeding tube removed March 18 by order of a Florida state judge.

Richard Doerflinger, deputy director of the U.S. bishops' Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities, praised Bush and members of Congress for the new law.

"Terri Schiavo is not terminally ill; she is a woman with cognitive disabilities," he said March 21. "This law ensures that the decision to discontinue her assisted feeding will be reviewed with full attention to her legal rights."...............

And the baton passed from the blind to the halt. So much for Justice....

We charged across the bridge to Tampa. I rode with Pat Mahoney and Brandi Swindell and we expected good news to come of this because how could even a liberal judge fly in the face of the heart of our government? Nope, the judge got out his violin and sawed away for hours, hours, and hours, twiddling his thumbs as Terri slipped deeper into dehydration. Meanwhile, this James Whittemore District Judge played Terri with the same casual amusement of a cat juggling a helpless mouse until the game got boring. Then the next day he released his thumbs-down and shortly afterwards whined how we meanies were all against him.

Nope, the cowboys of brokeback justice had circled the wagons and the entire Justice system stood ready to show the rest of government and us poor saps who was boss.

As Congress and President George W. Bush rushed into place a law granting federal court jurisdiction in the case of severely brain-damaged Terri Schindler Schiavo, Catholic leaders emphasized that she must continue to be given nutrition.

But the law signed by Bush in the early morning hours of March 21 allowing Schiavo's parents to ask a federal judge to order the reinsertion of her feeding tube failed to achieve its goal when U.S. District Judge James Whittemore in Tampa, Fla., ruled against the parents' request March 22.

Whittemore said Schiavo's "life and liberty interests" had been protected by the state courts and that her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had not established a "substantial likelihood of success" in the federal court process.............

And today a simple reflection...

.........................

What is most frustrating about your ministry?

There are not enough hours in the day, not enough ink on a page and not enough bytes in a bit to tell everyone's story - so at the end of the day, I just do what I can. It was very frustrating during coverage of the Terri Schiavo story to realize that, at the end of the day, some people just don't want to hear the truth - even if you take the time to explain it......

Her gift and calling is to tell stories of the faith

For those who are Catholic and who were affected as was I at Pinellas Park, Coleus offers the reminder of the Novena of The Divine Mercy beginning today, Good Friday. The Divine Mercy was tied to events at Pinellas Park and permeated the vigil. The thread by Coleus was started several years ago and is renewed at this time.

As best I can figure, Jeb was Pilate, Greer was Caiaphas, Crist was Judas and the role of Satan was jointly played by Felos and Mikey (though Mikey probably sees himself as Barabbas).

I've no intention to appear rude, but I believe you made a comment about sitting in some other network's chair upthread a bit, and I am just so curious--why on earth were you sitting in their chairs? Was it with permission? Or perhaps the chairs were there as courtesy seating? Thanks for indulging my curiousity! :D

Best,
Etixos

News from today's St. Pete Times. 1. Pinellas is second to Broward County for losing residents. PINELLAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OFFER NO REASONS FOR THE EXODUS. I can think of a few right off hand... 2. (r) Fla Senator Evelyn Lynn WHO VOTED TO KILL TERRI in March of 2005 is on the front page for triple dipping salaries. 3. Governor Crist VETOES A BAN ON BAGGY, DROOPY PANTS. He has no idea that droopy drawers are part of gang culture not just fashion. For "sun", Governor Project Runway said, "I remember when I went to high school, people were worried about how long somebody's hair was. It really doesn't matter. What's important is what you learn, not what you wear."

(yeah, and they're learnin' how to be little gangsters, Governor Project Runway.

Al Gonzalez stopped the coast guard rescue. I’m thinkin’ that coast guard copter had paperwork on board for Terri to be released to them. Terri’s copter was cancelled. Thanks for sticking to your anti-torture policy, AG AG.

Chairs draw your attention? There were many network news director's chairs. One network allowed us to charge our cell phones at their generator. The media on scene were cordial, albeit many times, friendly. Producers, gofers, on camera personalities were all cordial, even CNN's on air personalities who were there. If I was sitting in a chair, it was probably because it's hard to stand for hours next to the death cultists whose eyes glowed like burning coal and their signs were E-V-I-L and tasteless.

I had permission from God to be there, kind of like Rush saying "talent on loan from God."

Now see what hay you can make of my sense of humor as you state you've no intention to appear rude.

I just remembered helping an ABC affiliate edit their raw footage for their Easter Sunday broadcast. I implored "remove the Holocaust sign. It is not the day for such a sign." The affiliate then took that sign out. In editing raw footage, first priority is "sound", then you pick the pictures and order. They push buttons on their truck and then hit send to the satellite.

On Easter Sunday, we were still being strung along by Jeb, et al.

I’m sure the Holocaust sign is still on line on search engines. It was stacks of human skeletons from the holocaust. It was just too graphic for Easter Sunday. I know you recall this sign. There was the Greer sign with swastikas on it as well. Greer’s spending his golden years being associated with the barbarism of Nazi Germany. And, the other judges and voters against Terri. Nancy Argenziano cried cuz someone called her office and called her a murderer. Well? Judge James Whittemore tortured Terri and her family. Greer was breaking laws of the and alone.

What is the Crist/McCain relationship at this moment? I am amazed how few recognize that McCain exhibits signs that not only is he a nasty person but possibly he is not mentally well.

McCain has Lieberman and L. Graham on his world tour. What if he picks Lindsey Graham? Anyway, McCain’s made some gaffes in Israel. He sure doesn’t study up before he speaks.
