Just saw this advertised on tv. First it was Life After People on the History Channel, and now this. Seems to be a lot of fascination lately on tv about the extinction of the human race.
To: chessplayer
I started watching that on TV. After awhile it didn’t make any sense. What difference does it make if there are no humans? Who cares? One thing someone said was that they were afraid that all the archives would get ruined. Who cares if there is no one to find them? Must be global warming people.

every species, with the exception of alligators, crocodiles, cockroaches and ex-wives have gone extinct in the history of the world..one day, humans will be extinct too whether by self-induced measures or a cataclysmic extra-terrestrial event (meteor, etc..NOT an invasion from Mars)
It is interesting, however, to see what the speculation is regarding a non-human inhabited planet..

Complete collapse of the world economy?
No lines at Disney World?
Dogs and cats would evolve to learn how to use can openers?
Frankly- who cares?

That’s precisely the question.
There would be no one left to be deeply concerned.
And certainly no one with space technology to deflect
some big rock when it’s relatively easy to do so.
The remaining species would chew on each other until
vaporized.

Seems to be a lot of fascination lately on tv about the extinction of the human race. This is the "final solution" of the liberal socialist elite. Eliminate everyone -- except for a small population (the liberal socialist elite).

Seems to be a lot of fascination lately on tv about the extinction of the human race. I understand the satanic nature of these programs. What I don't understand is why anyone would be interested in watching them. Moreover, the premise is preposterous, but that's a secondary issue.

This is the "final solution" of the liberal socialist elite. Eliminate everyone -- except for a small population (the liberal socialist elite). Make that the liberal, socialist, satanic elite. They just don't know who they're working for --yet. Your theory makes a perverse kind of sense. I guess they're not yet ready to announce who should be left behind.

Evolutionist propaganda.
Looks cool though.
The hope of the evolutionist is that in another couple of hundred billion years a new soup will pop up from a big bang, that is after the big crunch. And how do they know that the monkeys in the New York zoo will not evolve by that time and save the buildings.

The programs premis is full of B.S. During the worst disaster humans would survive somewhere.Even following a Nuclear war.
Too see that all we have to do is look at Nagasaki and Hiroshima,Japan following the drop of the nukes there. Though the loss of life was great,Not everybody died.

I understand the satanic nature of these programs. You see them as I do. It really does appear that there are a growing number of people being sucked into a cult that looks forward to the end of the human race.
To: chessplayer
Seems to be a lot of fascination lately on tv about the extinction of the human race. They're just catering to the Green-Radical Left's wet dream. "Life would be so perfect if there were no people left on Earth -- except us, of course."

And remember to vote for Obama if you really want to speed the process along!
His wife ran a chapter of Planned Parenthood, and the ‘Zero Growth’ freaks give him a 100% issue-voting rating & tons of cash.
The Obamas have thousands of deaths on their hands by now.

Back in my liberal days, I was a member of ZPG. Reasoned discussion of the issues, their newsletters were NOT. Full of ranting propaganda for environmentalism and against economic growth. Even TV programs and commercials that appeared to support large families drew their wrath.
To: chessplayer
Didn't get to look through all of it, but I strongly disagree with the assertion that nuclear power plants will spew radiation “500x” greater than Hiroshima. That is simply not true. The automated systems in a nuclear reactor will simply drop the control rods and shut it down. It can sit in that state indefinitely.
To: PghBaldy
"I suppose in theory, the concept of a world without humans could show how special and precious we are. I assume that is not the intent though."
No the leftists want to "heal mother earth", so if humans disappeared, great. They don't realize that animals don't give a rip whether they live in the wild or in a zoo. Ask your dog's opinion of whether he'd rather be "free" or live in your house. The answer might surprise you.

The History channel program seems to agree with you on that one. It did suggest that the Hoover dam might continue to produce power for decades until the turbines simply wore out over the years. The dam itself might stand for as much as 2000 years.

scientifically, I actually found the book fascinating. Without making any kind of statement about why or when people might stop living on Earth, just the literal mechanics of how everything would decay is pretty interesting.
For instance, Manhattan is actually below water and something like 20 million gallons of water are pumped out of the ground every day to keep the place dry. If we stopped doing just that alone, Manhattan would turn into a swamp within a year. (insert liberal joke here.....)
But for those with a very, very curious mind you can also find out exactly step by step how your home will chemically decay and fall apart and eventually be consumed by some plant or animal (sometime in the following milleniums).

Realizing though that this is literally an intellectual exercise (ie, mental masturbation for those with multiple degrees who are underemployed), its at least something I’ve never seen anybody else study before.
Most of us ponder OUR existence after this Earth as opposed to existence of Earth after US. But atheists have to have something to do with their time too.
