That's good, Blogger. We can count our blessings for those not in attendance. Maybe they'll convince the others.

It's morally apprehensible to spread fear and cause undo economic stress.

Looks like LEftist have infiltrated the Southern Baptists as well. Fight them. Don’t let them use this wedge issue to get a toehold.

Dont bunch all Baptists under your blanket.Um...OK but between Huckabee and now this... I've had a belly-full of Baptists this past year with their floating crosses and grand ideas. Hey, I certainly agree Baptists like any other religion are free to believe whatever they want and to follow whichever Hucksters rocks their world. I'll just repeat my warning... keep your hands out of my pocket to pay for self-righteous good-deeds. Render your own coinage to Caesar - not mine.

The signatories pledged to do their part to fight global warming "without any further lingering over the basic reality of the problem or our responsibility to address it. Humans must be proactive and take responsibility for our contributions to climate change--big and small." It looks like the Southern Baptist leadership needs "adult supervision." They cannot recognize a hoax and fraudulent claim. This is not to say that we do not have a responsibility for responsible environmentalism. We do have a requirement to husband our resources, but accepting the scientifically UNSUPPORTED premise that mankind is responsible for global warming is sad indeed.

Several prominent leaders in the Southern Baptist Convention said Monday that Baptists have a moral responsibility to combat climate change -- a major shift within a denomination that just last year cast doubt on human responsibility for global warming.
Forty-six influential members of the Southern Baptist Convention, including three of its last four presidents, criticized their denomination in a statement Monday for being "too timid" in confronting global warming.
"Our cautious response to these issues in the face of mounting evidence may be seen by the world as uncaring, reckless and ill-informed," the statement says. "We can do better."
Late to the party as always. They need to stop aping the world.

"God doesnt require our agreement..." St. Paul's opinions are not God's laws.
"...cheap shots at Christians"
Only Baptists in this case. They bought into this stuff and thus open themselves to ridicule.
(FYI, I was raised in a Baptist church.)

It's still likely to be a disappointment to some congregations and many church members.

The most effective way to reduce man’s impact on the environment is to reduce the population. Are they prepared to do that?

Humans must be proactive and take responsibility for our contributions to climate change--big and small." May I suggest you all light a candle, fall on your knees and pray--for the end is near.
Hallelujah, praise the Lord and pass the OwlGore basket so that we may fill it with Carbon Trading Chits--Redeemable by St. Peter as you enter the Pearly Gates. Amen!!!
Better yet, while waiting for your redemption in the hereafter, why not light one of these to better guide you thru the fog of Globul Warming hysteria:

From the article:"We have observed that Cizik and others are using the global warming controversy to shift the emphasis away from the great moral issues of our time, notably the sanctity of human life, the integrity of marriage and the teaching of sexual abstinence and morality to our children," their letter said. "The issue (global warming) should be addressed scientifically and not theologically."
This is a Leftist/Socialist Wedge issue to break the Southern Baptists just like they have other Protestant churches. The Leftist WILL try to change the SB position on homosexuals, responsibility, etc. I'm glad someone is fighting this now!

What they may not recognize at this stage is the future negative economic impact.

... As always, with ANY human endeavor, when the facts don't add up, follow the money. This is especially true with the SBC....."
You've got that right.
These fleecers are simply getting in on the present fad, and catering to the gullibility of their particular sheep.
Me? ... I'm still wondering what psychosis I have that won't let me acknowledge white guilt.

“St. Paul’s opinions are not God’s laws”
The Bible is Gods word and is not Pauls opinion.
“Only Baptists in this case. They bought into this stuff and thus open themselves to ridicule.”
Buying into God’s word is ridiculous?
“(FYI, I was raised in a Baptist church.)”
Appears you no longer support the denomination or Christianity in general. You’re saying the Bible is incorrect. You seem intelligent so I’m guessing you understand the overall implications of that position.

Agree that this is distressing news.
While I am a believer in the power of prayer, I'll have to say no thank you to one of those fluorescent light bulbs. I do not want fluorescent lighting in my home.
