Five reasons the War on Terrorism will never be won with foreign invasions (Hippie Barf Alert)

1. America is at risk of more terrorist attacks - but not just from the Middle East According to a recent NYPD report, the greatest terrorist threat to United States citizens now comes from our own people - homegrown terrorists. This is not news to anyone who is aware of how different the terrorist threat is from any other enemy we've faced. John Robb, in his excellent book Brave New War, outlines the myriad ways that any dedicated homicide-minded individual can bypass America's woefully inadequate homeland security and exploit technology to wreak havoc on a massive scale:

"We have entered the age of the faceless, agile enemy. From London to Madrid to Nigeria to Russia, stateless terrorist groups have emerged to score blow after blow against us. Driven by cultural fragmentation, schooled in the most sophisticated technologies, and fueled by transnational crime...terrorists have developed the ability to fight nation-states strategically - without weapons of mass destruction. This new method is called systems disruption, a simple way of attacking the critical networks (electricity, oil, gas, water, communications, and transportation) that underpin modern life."

What’s this crap now?

A police state, not freedom, stops terrorism?

(Guess that explains guerilla warfare in the world...?)

OBL attacks us because we’re over there?

(Sure would like to see why the Shores of Tripoli are so important to us! Persia and the seeds of Islam have been at odds with the West since before Socrates.)

“Reckless military invasion”?

(The casualty count for such a scale of operation has NEVER been so small. On BOTH friendly and civilian casualties.)

WTFITS? Where’s the (barf alert)?!?!?!

So, I gather from the article that the only way to effectively fight terrorism is to become a police state?

Well, we have created fly traps in both Afghanistan and Iraq where the terrorists are flocking by the tens of thousands...and dieing. They are working.

The islamic terrorists (who despite this articles efforts to make others the focus are the main terrorist enemies) know that they cannot allow secular, progressive, and prosperous democracies to be established amongst them because the people, over time will see the difference and want the same.

For these reason, going into the countries where the terorrists are provided safe haven, or into countries supporting them and abetting them, can work...and are working.

The article is written as if though the US is wiping out entire people's in these countries. That is simply not the case. Most people in both Iraq and Afghanistan support the US forces. This is seen by their voting, this is seen by their own volunteering and signing up to fight the same enemies amongst them...oft times continuing in line at recruitment centers, the lines snaking around recent attacks.

All of this, with one additional point, belie the message of this article. We have not been hit again. Plain and simple. They have tried, and when they have it has been the US military, the CIA and the FBI who have thwarted them with the tools they have been given since 911...not the policemen.

If terrorists break through our defenses, then both policemen and common citizens will have to stop them. These shootings at schools are perfect examples. When armed people are on hand, the carnage is much reduced.

But to imply that the efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan are not helping win this war is simply wrong headed at best because it ignores the facts as I have outlined them...it is monnbat leftwing mantra and propganda at worst which itself aids and abets our enemies.

Hmmm...selective citation of facts. How come he left out the part about the Saudis supporting Al Qeada with money?

This article is so far off the wall it is rediculous IMHO.

See my comments in post 4.

The fact is, current tactics are working. Terorrists who want to kill Americans are dieing by the tens of thousands. No larges scale attacks have been made here...we have them too occupied in the fly-traps in their own backyard.

IMHO, this article is spreading liberal think mantra...and does not do a very good job of it at that.

They hatre us because we came there, the islamics are not the only terorrists, war does not work, it is a police issue, etc., etc., etc.

While this moonbat attempts to make some valid points, most of It is simply twisted up in the “Blame America First” logic most moonbates have boiling in their souls...I mean, take a look at just some of the things this idiot states...

-American intervention takes the world attention from Islamofascist brutality and focuses it on American belligerence. In a world largely of media censorship and ignorant public opinion, it is too easy for Islamofascists to play the victim when American tanks are rolling through their side streets.
-As we are forced to stoop to their level - fighting amongst civilians, villages and homes - we lose the moral high ground.
-American culture is remarkably adept at forging positive opinions of our country through peace and commerce. It was recently reported that as American products finally entered Iraq, locals happily flocked to buy the high quality items, even while they cursed our military occupation.
-We can make people love America without resorting to force.

.....This guy actually believes what he writes and when he basis his beliefs on assumptions that are blatantly wrong then his reasons and conclusions are in error. He himself sees America as a brutal occupier that sows the seeds of terrorism through American deeds and completely ignores the fact that whether we are in Iraq (or anywhere in the Mid East) Wahabi Militant Islam wants us destroyed..He is a moonbat that ignores the reality and concentrates on what he perceives is the case. Oh yes, lets join hands with the mid east Militants and see Kumbia and yes, they will come to love us and not want to destroy us...pathetic.

They are Libertarians - isolationist, blame-America-first wackos.
If they been around in 1941, they would have blamed the US for Pearl Harbor and demanded we pull out of the Pacific and stop provoking the poor Japanese.

For the U. S. not to take the offense against Islamic Jihad terrorists wherever they are in the world is not only wrong - it would be suicidal for the U. S.

Two of the most dangerous regimes in the world - Al Queda in Afghanistan, and the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq - have now been removed. This is a huge improvement in the national security of the U. S. and, indeed, for all free nations of the world.

It is absolutely necessary to take the offense against this terrorism, in the same manner as treating a cancer. You remove it and keep it from growing and spreading.

To sit back in the defensive attitude that this author suggests, is nothing but suicidal - it reeks of a lack of DNA that enabled our ancestors to survive to make our lives possible.

Just think of the horror they would have had after we invaded the peaceful soverign nation of Guadalcanal.
Or losing 1000 Marines in three days at Tarawa.
Forget about all the other battles we fought to restore freedom.

Just wait. IF the RATs end up in the White House (please God, do not let it be) just watch all these problems magically disappear! Remember when Billy Jeff took office. All of a sudden the homeless problem just disappeared. Magic!

If you want happy media stories, just elect a RAT!

The author.

Snort.

BTW, PI's not exactly forthcoming on the subject of where its money comes from. It's a tax-exempt and there's bugger all on their website about their donors.

Another historical fact counseling against foreign invasion is that no foreign power has ever vanquished a domestic guerrilla rebellion.

Nonsense on stilts.

Boer War. Filipino Rebellion. Moro War. Every single American Indian War. Almost every colonial war down thru history. The Malayan Emergency. The Mau-Mau. The entire history (till 1919) of the British in Ireland. The Mongols throughout eastern Europe and most of Asia. The Romans throughout western Europe, north Africa and the Middle East. Tibet. The Russians in the Caucasus, Ukraine and Central Asia. The Incas and Aztecs. The Ottomans for several centuries.

To name just a few.

we invaded the peaceful soverign nation of Guadalcanal.

At the time, the island was part of the British Empire, which was all in favor of our invading.

Nothing “seems like” about it. That’s all he does. And then he doesn’t even comment on them- as if the article says everything he wants to say already.

I’ll bet a week’s wage it’s Matt.

Thank you. Shouldn't this guy at least be posting this in blog and personal? It's bad form to only post from your own blog here just to spam us.
