See, if you are pro amnesty you can still be pro border security. Amnesty for all the illegals here but just don’t let anymore in. This is the position McCain has staked out. Talk up border security but make no committments to enforcement which has the goal of making illegals not want to be here by making everything they try to do here illegal and actually really enforce it. Why waste time enforcing laws that will become null and void once you legalize all the illegals? This position wont work though. Motivate immigrants to come here illegally who can easily find jobs and a government infrastucture willing to help them and think they will eventually get amnesty yet again and no fence will be good enough keep them out. At least not a fence that Americans are willing to pay for year in year out, decade after decade.

if he didn’t get it then why did he bring up the issue at the CPAC conference? why did he go there in the first place? I have a feeling he will vote for this. We’ll see. if he doesn’t, you KNOW that means he won’t win conservative support in November.

Really?....we’ll see if he “gets it”.

"seems like you might be the DUMB ASS?"

I'd say the dumbass is someone who thinks we should overlook his continuing amnesty plans. We should overlook his plans to close Gitmo. We should overlook his desires to give the enemy combatants there lawyers in our civil courts. We should overlook his anti-waterboarding stupidity. We should overlook his previous dismantling of our free speech rights. We should overlook that he buys into the global warming fraud, We should overlook his RINO history of obstructionism.

We should overlook everything else that's wrong about him, because "HE'S GOOD FOR THE TROOPS".

How is all this stuff that's bad for the country any good for our troops?

How many of them (and us) will die because RINO McCain won't allow waterboarding? That's not how you win wars.

He needs to do some serious recanting if he expects to be elected. Too many folks have a problem voting for a liberal democRAT on our own ticket!

Well, that explains why he has been in tight with the moonbats who “support the troops” and villify the war...same logic pattern.

"Yeah I always wonder how the soldier in the field feels when he gets the call that his wife and daughter were raped and murdered by an illegal alien."

Or when he gets out of the service and comes home to no job because Pedro the no-longer-illegal has taken it.

I agree with everything you say. But he is better on all the things you mention than either Obama or Hillary. My only hope is the good people like those here on FR will be loud enough, active enough, and vigilant enough to keep dumb ass McCain in line once he is elected but elect him we should.

We crushed the first attempt at amnesty against the odds and the odds won’t be changed either way no matter who is elected.

Sounds like "our" candidate has a problem.

He sure does.

We're stuck with him, though. Thank you, primary voters.

I’m not stuck with him. My vote will be a write in because McQueeg will lose anyway and I refuse to offer encouragement to the Grand Old Plantation.

You mean like we "kept him in line" in the past, or on the gang of 14?

I certainly don't want Obama in there, but I don't see much difference between RINO McCain or Hillary policy wise. She's even responsible enough to say that she "won't rule out" waterboarding. She has him beat on that issue.

I think I’m there, too.

At the moment, I’m not voting for him. I’ll write in. My vote must be earned.

It’s possible that he could earn it before November, although I fail to see how.

I’m pretty jaded at this point. I haven’t forgotten our border fence “victory” and the result.

I simply don’t intend to back down from either party at this point.

"These are god’s children and we are going to handle it in a humane fashion but with the principal that no one who came her illegally would have any precedence over someone who either came legally or waited legally for a chance to become a citizen of this country.

Sure that means he still plans to give amnesty to those her illegally, and allow them to stay here and work ahead of those who didn't break the law, while those waiting are still outside the country not working. He used the words for a chance to become a CITIZEN of this country, not immigrant or guest worker. The illegals still get to cut in line in front of those outside the country. Its political doublespeak and he needs to be called on it.

The rules are already clear on employer hiring of illegal immigrants, dont know what these congressman want. The issues are with enforcement and the judicial obstruction, it is a complex issue for the zealots to understand.

Oh, they're no small part of it, but Republicans voted for him as well.

McCain won the primaries in New York, Florida, Connecticut, Delaware, and Oklahoma, all of which are (I believe) closed primaries.

Republican primary voters can't just wash their hands of him and pretend they don't have any responsibility.
