''This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,'' the state attorney general, Eliot Spitzer, who oversees the task force, said in a statement. ''It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring, and now its owners and operators will be held accountable.'' Investigators with the task force came across the ring while looking into the activities of a Gambino crime family gambling operation, the law enforcement official said. They had wiretapped a Gambino-linked social club on Fingerboard Road in Staten Island as part of that inquiry and saw the prostitution ring's leader, Frank Farella, 44, of Staten Island, visiting at the club, the official said.

Since we know Spitzer's prostitution ring shuttled hookers back and forth between NY and DC, I wonder if any of the DC politicians might be caught in this sting. If there are, I sure hope they're all RATS.
These whores only charged about a tenth as much as Spitzer’s. It’s so typically liberal to crush the “sex workers” of the “bourgeoisie” while keeping the high-priced ones available for themselves.
Law enforcement is selective in enforcement. And those who wield the power do so to increase their own power.
Whether that be courting the voters saying “see I what I did for the community” to outing the enemy or crushing the competition.

Yeah, but he's a repeat customer and he isn't using his friend's face. Spitzer has got to know he'll be recognized. The prostitute was from the state where he is Governor and everyone knows what their Governor looks like.
I think there has to be some interesting explanation for the mutual trust among those who would seem to have a reason to totally distrust each other. I suspect that those who have been arrested are the day-to-day operators of the enterprise and that Spitzer is cozy with their boss.
I don't think Spitzer would use his friend's name unless there was a specific reason. That is probably the guy who sponsored Spitzer for membership and they refer to the john by the person who authorized the service. I think his friend's company could be a Soros spin-off.
An extremely good question, whose answer the MSM might not want to pursue. Why would a public figure think that his identity was safe? What trust relationship did he have with the participants?
More to the point, did he have, or think he had, a means to ensure the perpetual silence of both the pimps AND the girls, and might that mechanism be more politically explosive than the fact that he was a customer? Given the wealth and power of their customers, how did the service assure them that they did not need to worry about exposure or blackmail?

I didn’t think this deep on the subject. I saw a post here yesterday that raised the possibility of a Mossad connection with the operators. We will probably never know all the datails for sure. Does anyone really believe James Earl ray acted alone?

At first Spitzer seems to have used another name (that of a friend, George Fox). I read that over time the girls became aware of who they were really dealing with. By that point they had him, excuse the pun, by the balls. No way could he do anything because it would have done far more damage to him than to them. They’d likely just disappear and come back with new names for a new service.
