600 Illegal Aliens Nabbed by ICE in Recent Days[Arizona]
KTAR News ^ | 10 Mar 2008 | Jon Zimney

More than 600 suspected illegal immigrants were rounded up in the Valley within the past week.

That means the people with Immigration and Customs Enforcement have their work cut out for them.

Vincent Picard with ICE says it is primetime for human smuggling. "January and February were fairly quiet months. The last week, however, we're seeing those numbers go right through the roof whether it's 80 people in a house in Avondale or 50 people in a house in Phoenix."

"We're seeing more houses, higher number in the houses, more smuggling on the roads."

The latest drop house bust happened in Avondale today. More than 50 suspected illegal immigrants were captured.

Use civil forfeiture to confiscate the properties where they are holed up.

Illegals need jobs, free services and shelter. If landlords who rented their properties as flophouses were being heavilly fined or losing their properties one leg of the triangle would be knocked out.

The tally is increasing as we watch:

More than 60 illegal immigrants were discovered at a drop house in west Phoenix last night, bringing the total number to almost 700 in the past seven days across the Valley.

If there are only 20 million illegals in this country, I’m Brad Pitt.

the figure of 20 mil has been repeated for the past two years..and the border has not been sealed, so it has to be 5 million more at least than the figure we are led to believe...

600 illegals rounded up in one week?

No - 600 illegals back on the street after they promised, promised, promised to show up for their immigration hearings scheduled in 2009.

Oops, I forgot, moderates elected John McCain president, so immigration hearings in 2009 are no longer needed.

Let me be the first to say welcome to 600 new Democrats, oops, I mean 600 new Americans.

Gosh, and they could have been doing this for the last twenty years.

If they nabbed 600 every hour continuously it would take them 3.8 years to get 20 million.

The quickest way I know to end this? Take the 600, route them back to Mexico via Guantanmo (whilst carefully showing them what their extended SECOND visit there entails).

Screw them and their whole extended families...They should fight for their own country, not suck ours dry..

I live in the Phoenix area and the local news last night said that a few of the women were pregnant - I think they said 5 or 6 out of the 60 that were busted in a single house.

That’s the scam nobody seems to be able to stop — just show up in the US, have a baby and claim you have no income while the married couple are actually working ‘under the table’ and get all kinds of welfare, medical and WIC assistance all the while claiming she is a SINGLE mother and are is not able to work. They’re married most of the time, but when you have no way to prove it... the gubmint writes the check without any more questions. This has got to stop!

The penny drops. The *reason* so many safe houses have been busted is Arizona’s new employer verification law.

Here’s the logic: Arizona is still the largest entryway to the US, and the illegals are still coming. BUT, they aren’t planning on staying in Arizona, but are just passing through.

Ergo, the need for drop houses until they can be transported out of State.

Importantly, there are only five freeway routes out of AZ:

http://www.theshulmans.com/files/67600/map_arizona7.jpg

If they are in the Phoenix area, it means that they are either planning to take I-10 to California, or I-17 to Flagstaff, then I-40 to New Mexico. They don’t want to head South to Yuma, to get into California, because that route is watched, as well as the southern I-10 route to New Mexico.

This means that if they put random checks on I-10 to CA and I-40 to NM, they would catch most of them. Both of those routes cross a lot of wide open spaces, so a traffic jam wouldn’t be much of a problem.

600. Wow.

Nice bit of pretense to convince us that they’re actually trying to enforce the immigration laws, when we know better. Neither Jorge nor Juan nor Hitlery nor BO will ever do anythign about the problem except put on this little show for us once in a blue moon.

"According to a report released in late 2006 by the House Committee of Homeland Security, up to 10 MILLION PEOPLE entered the United States illegally and un-inspected LAST YEAR [alone]."
