Dr. Laura: Women Share the Blame for Cheating Men. (See, it's mostly her fault).
MSNBC ^ | 3-11-08 | Mike Celezic

Posted on 03/12/2008 4:55:51 AM PDT by ciocia

Dr. Laura Schlessinger has never been one to shrink from controversy, and she leaped headlong into one on Monday when she said that if a husband cheats, his wife may share some of the blame.

“When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings, sexually, personally, to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman making him feel what he needs,” the popular psychologist and radio personality said.

More commonly known as just “Dr. Laura,” Schlessinger made the remarks while participating in one of several panel discussions on TODAY dealing with the breaking news that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been connected to a high-priced prostitution ring.

Sometimes hearing the truth is painful..and that’s exactly why people do call. My theory is that deep down inside, people do know the answers to their questions...they want to be scolded like children by an authority figure. Her success justifies that. It’s just how turned around our society has become...but people do want to do the right thing. And I believe (I know you don’t), that she speaks the truth most of the time.

“Some folks like whips, racks and candle wax....others call Dr. Laura.”

My wife refers to her as the Maquise...and the porno queen, since the queen of virtue posed for nudies when she was younger.

The only excuse for the disrespectful way she treats people is that she is projecting back upon herself in a self-hating sort of way.

Well, for one thing, we have a far keener eye for detail and a better memory for detail. And those two factors make detail more interesting to us than to men, I suspect.

I don't concur. Its the subject. My wife can't tell one airplane from another, can't remember the slightest thing about any number of things that fascinate me, but she is acutely interested in what other women are wearing.

I'll remember the beer, she'll remember the shoes.

Have you ever asked yourself why a woman would ask a man something like "Do I look fat in this?"

It sure as hell isn't to get an honest answer. I know that! They ask a man because its the husband, and he's the only one present while she's getting dressed. She'd certainly much rather ask one of her girlfriends who has the slightest clue as to what she means by "looking fat". To a man, you are either fat or not fat, and changing the dress ain't going to help.

A bit of insight-—
For the last 10 years, every woman who has come to take belly dance ‘for her husband’ has been someone almost zero self esteem trying to win their husband’s approval. Mice in women’s bodies.

Do they last long in class? No, usually no more than 1 or 2 classes max, because they are there for all the wrong reasons so the lessons don’t take. And it’s such a long road before they even remotely look like they’re dancing, hubby gets miffed and frustrated and I get feedback like “when am I going to be able to dance for him”.

I don’t know, how soon do you think you’d be able to dance Swan Lake after lessons with the ABT??

The women who stay, do well, become beautiful dancers that their hubby’s are proud of?

They all do it for themselves-— I have yet to have a good student that came for any other reason.

Even with weight loss ed-— You have to do it for yourself-— I can count on almost certain failure if its for any reason other than for self-improvement or health issues. Even then, the goals have to be realistic....No, you probably won’t be a size 8, however, you’ll be a very happy and healthy size 14.... If hubby still thinks that’s too large? Then the problem is in his head, not your body.

Weight loss, dancing, etc....It has to be something you want for you....that benefits your health and well being.

In my experience, men don’t like doormats or those who have no worth and no idenity. That is what the ‘Dance and Lose Weight for Hubby’ crowd are....

I love Laura.

I don't have a wife, but when I do, it'll be HER fault if I cheat.

Cool.

I disagree-—
but then again I’m one that deals with totally destroyed minds and psyches....so someone like Laura is just like pouring acid on a wound....

Way too much bad coming out of her....

Here’s a hint===

The question is “Does it make me look fat?”

The answer that I would give? “That style/cut/color isn’t the best for you...but the ______ outfit that you wore last week looks SO good and makes your legs look stunning.”

Honest answer, no damage done.

Unless you want a divorce, then I’d stick to your last sentence.

Well leave it to liberals to marry for power and prestige. Sad. I think women like wifey here and Hillary give ALL women a bad name. Stand by your man, my ass.

Whatever it is...I’m a happy camper..my husband’s a happy camper...I know what I know! And Dr. Laura is right 99% of the time.

This is an historic day---I completely agree with you!

ATTENTION ALL WOMEN

With reference to the asking your husband if you look fat in a particular dress.

najida says:
The answer that I would give? “That style/cut/color isn’t the best for you...but the ______ outfit that you wore last week looks SO good and makes your legs look stunning.”

Only gay men and women talk like that. A heterosexual man thinks, "I would be having sex with you right now if we didn't have to be somewhere in 10 minutes, shouldn't that clue you in to the fact that I think you're smoking hot?" But he knows he can't say that and not being homosexual he is at a total loss as to what to say that will make his wife feel good about herself. Her keen awareness of his awkwardness makes her feel like he thinks she IS fat. Everyone is unhappy.

LADIES! HEAR ME and please do your husband the merciful kindness of never asking THAT question again. If you must, just ask, "Honey, do want to have sex with me when I'm in this dress?" He'll smile, and quickly and honestly say "Yes." He might even say, "Yes, but even more so in that green one cut up the side." You'll have your answer and you'll both be happier.

The principle at work, whether or not explicitly understood or acknowledged is: “If I can give pleasure, I can withhold pleasure”. Base manipulation.

Sex becomes a "management tool" in the hands of the controlling spouse....a form of emotional violence practiced in many so "loving" relationships.

Why wouldn't you do it for your husband? Why wouldn't you starve and exercise for you AND your husband? I keep myself nice for me and my husband...sometimes I do it JUST for my husband...

When you do something that requires such a personal commitment and sacrifice for somebody else (your spouse, your child, your parent) you are setting that person up for a boatload of resentment when they don't meet your expectations now or at some point later. I lost 40 pounds for you...but you can't (fill in blank) for me. I worked two jobs for your education, but all I get back from you is (fill in blank). God bless you that it works in your relationship, but when people (ok, women...I am thinking of my circle of friends) do 'things' just for the favor of the husband, a, they resent 'doing' it in the long run. If you want to change your life, your looks, your spirit you have have to want to do it for yourself only...and answer only to yourself.

wow...you have no idea how wrong you are...and that mindset is what is killing the family. And it is a uniquely female trait that is so irritating.
