"From what has been reported so far, it's pretty clear that the meteorite is not from the Earth, or the moon, or Venus, or any of the common sources of meteorites," he said. "It's much harder to know where it is from." Not from Earth??? What!!! How does a meteorite originate from Earth?

This should be a no-brainer. If it is “rusty and salty, and smells like rotten eggs”, it comes from the bottom of some ocean. Salt-iron-hydrogen sulfide—all constituents of marine sediments. Perhpaps, from the planet that used to occupy the orbit where the asteroid belt now is? (”Maldek”)

What!!! How does a meteorite originate from Earth? It could be ejecta from a strike by a larger meteorite. Would have had to have been awhile, but that's how the pieces of Mars, the moon and Venus get to flying around the inner solar system.

Mysterious Meteorites Stymie ScientistsI always wondered what became of Stymie. So he grew up to become a scientist, did he? Good for him!
