WINTER HAVEN | The Police Department is ditching $38,000 worth of guns after two .45-caliber GAP Glock Model 37 pistols exploded in separate training incidents a year a part, causing minor injuries to an officer and a cadet.

I love the 16 gauge. I don’t own one, but I’ve shot ‘em, and I think they make a perfect home accessory for any uninvited guests. Recoil wouldn’t be an issue for the ladies, either.
My home shotgun is a Winchester M-12 in 16. Also have a number of Browning A-5’s in the gauge. My favorite is a 1914 straight stock - shoots like a champ.
I share your enthusiasm for the Ruger .45. It is slick-operating and ultra-accurate.
Never said the 9mm was created after the .45 ACP. What I said is that the 9mm is much less tolerant than the .45 ACP round, which makes the seating depth very important in a 9mm. Because the .45 GAP is shorter, it will be less tolerant than the .45 ACP. The .45 ACP is a “low” pressure round of about 25,000 CUP IIRC. The 9mm would be about twice that. As a result, should a bullet be forced into the case it is a much more dangerous event for a higher pressure case than the very forgiving .45 ACP.
The GAP was not an improvement. The only reason it was created was to try and get a shorter round for the FAT glock so people with small hands could have the raw stopping power of the .45 ACP. I can understand why Glock would want to create an ultra-lite .45 GAP, but a better choice would be for people to have chosen a light 1911 LDA (or even better IMO a true 1911).
You’re making me want to drive to the gun store, Slim!
Absolutely! The sites are very easy to work with, and the kick is minimal.
Family photo... :)
Stop! I’m quite paranoid, so I’m thinking you are somehow linked with my local gun store owner. ;-)
Do not resist... Do not resist...
Speaking of which, I’m gonna go visit my lay-aways.
I try to keep one gun on lay-away at all times... thus buying a gun 24/7/365... drives the libs I know crazy.
If, in a week or so, you see me going on about the virtues of the .38 super, you will know I have poor self control.
What I wanna know, is how do you find time to practice with and keep all of ‘em cleaned?
Which is why I said "crappy ammo". I would pick-up a box of S&B in .357 or .44 on occasion, until I found a couple of split cases in either revolver more than a few times.
I can imagine what would happen to a round in a Glock with a weak casing.
Grip plug:
Whenever I go to the range, I always take one oddball along to shoot. I shoot a lot of skeet, and break up the serious rounds by whanging away with a .410 pump gun or side by side for a round or two. I go to practice with my pistols, I run some rounds through an old Smith .32 top break. Gotta shoot the old ones, guns are like shaking hands with history.
Cleaning? Just scrub them out and put them away. In NM where I am the humidity is between single digits and 35%, so they don’t rust just sitting around.
Self control and gun buying just don’t work in the same sentance. I don’t know how common .38 Supers are in your neck of the woods. I see them fairly often here, as they are popular in Mexico. (Chrome plated with Aztec Calendar grips... the el jefe special!)
Throw it my way! I Like my Taurus Beretta knock-off - it fires every time and is accurate enough - but I wouldn’t mind having a gun with a barrel that doesn’t feel so loose.
Never owned a Glock, but never had a problem with them either.
IDPA rules favor Glocks. I can’t use my FN HighPower in the Service Pistol category because it’s single action and the Glock isn’t? Weird.
My HighPower would also be disqualified if I remove the Magazine Disconnect but the Glock has what kind of safety to prevent the trigger from firing. Yeah, right.
I haven't shot Sig in competition yet though. That first pull is a long one, and I want to shoot competition as I carry... and I don't carry a Sig with the hammer hot. Glock is certainly faster to the target, and both are definitely worth betting your life on. Goes boom, every time, exactly where it's pointed. I don't think there's more I'd want out of a sidearm.
I haven't had a malfunction of any kind in many thousands of factory rounds in the 9 and .45 Glock family. Dunno. Sometimes, I guess your number comes up. I'm not going to quit flying Boeing because a 737 depressurizes, and I'm certainly not going to throw my combat tupperware in the fireplace because some bureaucrat makes a decision to dump his investment. I basically don't care.
See ya at the range. Shoot for beer? Anyone?
Buehler?
Never a problem with our glocks. We have the Glock 18’s, G31’s, G34’s, G19’s G30’s G20 and G19’s in the armory and as well I own those and a few more including the 21 and 23.
Key IMHO is lead ammo.......jacketed ammo only. Glock manual says so so don’t do it !
Game on GR !!!
Shoot for cold cervesa , 400 yards, 9mm , adjusted point of aim , 10 rounds or less, one empty beer bottle that has to be broken. 115gr 9mm Winchester White Box !
I suppose the obvious question would be: can I mount a gold striped 20x Leupold to a G26...
LOL. 400 yards? Hell, I can’t see 400 yards. I best take an artillery refresher course.
Yer on!
