You are obviously a wise man. Handsome, young and rich, no doubt, too. ;-)
9+1 sounds good to me. Would that be a Colt (forgive my ignorance here)?
One of the reasons I like the Glock 19 over the .45 1911s I shot is the capacity (15+1 vs. 7 or 8 +1) in a relatively compact packgage, as well as the Glock’s utter reliability.
I know some people like to call the 9mm underpowered, but from the research I did, modern +P ammo (I used Cor Bon) provides more than adequate power.
There is no other semi-auto pistol that has even close to the reliability of a Glock. Most revolvers have higher failure to fire rates than Glock’s. There are multiple 10,000 round tests on record with a single FTF.
Compact, high capacity, ergonomic, accurate, low perceived recoil, few moving parts, few parts period, extremely easy to field strip and clean - the ONLY downside they have is most of them are a bit thick for concealed carry. I have seen them sloshed around in thick, wet, mud, pulled out, the barrel cleared, and still fired without any failures. Oh - and reasonably priced.
I aint rich or young anymore and not as pretty as I used to be, but thanks anyways. I’m now into the 5.56 as of about 3 months ago. Cheers!
Will the Glock 30 accomodate the regular .45 ACP loads? I have a Ruger .45 and buy for that one, will be getting a Glock 30 soon...don’t want to have to buy GAP loads for one and ACP for the other.
It only takes loading one wrong round...to ruin the day.
Make that “without” a single FTF.
Glad I have a Charter Arms/Bulldog, Ruger, 2 Astras and will have a Glock soon :)
Relatively few .38 Supers have been commercially produced. Most are 1911 platforms, full or commander size (Colt, Kimber, Ed Brown, Springfield, Les Baer) plus some race gun builders.
Sig made a P220 in europe in .38 Super, Taurus made a DA/SA version as did EAA.
I have nothing against Glocks except they really don’t fit my hand. They’re reliable and easy to maintain. The 19 is a good model.
I love my Glock 30. Look into the aftermarket plastic plug for the grip. It will reduce the bite of the recoil. Yes !
Glock says don’t use unjacketed bullets, as the lead may build up in the rifling and cause a blow-up. This department probably used cheap training ammo reloaded with cast lead bullets.
My problem with Glocks is the lack of a positive safety. Most cops aren’t smart enough to carry a loaded gun with only a “trigger safety”, as shown by all the AD threads and videos.
Thank you! I’ll look into that.
I’m not sure of the models (I only have Glocks chambered in 9mm and .40), but the rounds are incompatible. You need separate ammo.
The glock website will give you the info you need.
Thanx, explains why I know so little about the .38 super....
Crappy ammo.
You may be partially correct. This is true if any acp cartrige that head spaces the cartrige in the chamber. When the Officers weapon is loaded and un-loaded repeatedly, day after day with the same magazine and the same ammo the top round is being slammed over and over onto the chamber and the bullet creeps out of the brass after a while. If this round is fired it has no gap between the top of the round and the riflings. Too much presure builds up and POW!
Well, Xenia St said otherwise. I could be wrong. I’d check the Glock website.
Which one do you like best? If you could only have one, which would it be?
It’s more a matter of awareness. Same thing happens with other brands, but “Glock” tends to stick in peoples’ heads and gets talked about more.
The Ruger .45
The charter arms/bulldog is a .44 special. the 2 Astras are a 9mm and a .25 semi.
I like the feel of the .45 as well as the reputation of the calibur for one shot stops.
It’s one of those funky things. It was introduced in the late 20’s as an answer to the primitive body armor etc... of the era’s gangsters. Unfortunately Colt didn’t headspace it correctly and it suffered from accuracy problems. When the .357 Mag arrived in 1935, the Super lost ground even faster.
It’s a great round, very unappreciated... sorta like another favorite of mine the 16 gauge shotgun.
