Americans are Getting the Significance of the Obama Pastor Story While the MSM Spins Away
Blogs for John McCain ^ | March 14, 2008 | brianinmo

I thought it might be interesting to see how people other than political junkies like me are reacting to the bombshell news about the statements of Barack Obama's longtime pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Many in the media are trying to gloss it over, or suggest it is on a par with radical statements by supporters who have endorsed Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Of course, they know that is a totally false comparison. The big deal in this story is that BARACK OBAMA HAS LISTENED TO THIS KIND OF ANTI-AMERICAN AND RACIAL HATRED FOR 20 YEARS AND WAS NOT BOTHERED ENOUGH BY IT TO LEAVE THE CHURCH! Pardon my shouting, but the Mainstream Media's deliberate attempts to protect Obama are breathtaking.

Back to the purpose of this post - comments from real people! Here is a sampling from ABC News blog Political Punch, hardly frequented by radical Republicans, and I think you see many voters are "getting" the real problem for Obama in this story, even though the MSM is working hard to protect him on it. You can go over there to read many more comments:

I don't know what Obama can do now. How can he denounce and reject the support of his own pastor for 20 years? It's not like it was a little one-time slip.

It's up to the people and the media to hold him accountable for his long, intimate association with this hate-monger and this church which honored Farrakhan with a lifetime achievement award.

Posted by: Judith | Mar 14, 2008 4:09:05 AM

Its over for Obama because there is nothing he could now say except "Words".
Too bad the media didn't pick this up sooner.

Posted by: so saddened | Mar 14, 2008 2:56:04 AM

if hillary attended a similar church she'd have been forced out immediately. but obamaites just keep excusing, excusing, excusing. he may even get the nomination, because of all the excusing and the media coverup of the truth about him. but the repubs will not be so kind as to hide this sort of thing. and they won't let him get away with that just a crazy old uncle b.s. they will rightly point out that he CHOSE this church/pastor, stayed there 20 years, had this guy marry him and baptize his kids, contributed 2000 per month, etc. just another of the many reasons obama is not only wrong for the country but unelectable.

Posted by: Concerned Christian | Mar 14, 2008 3:08:04 AM

girlinvt, you are so right about leaving a church that spews hatred. but obama didn't. and not only does that reflect his agreement with the pastor's views, despite his denials, but it also says something about what he's teaching his children. imagine how children's views of the world must be affected by spending their childhood hearing that sort of hate speech in what's supposed to be a place of God?

Posted by: suzelee | Mar 14, 2008 12:57:45 AM

Why didn't the media report on this before so many people voted for Obama? Nobody would go to this church (which should NOT be tax exempt) for 20 years unless they liked the message. He should change his slogan from "yes we can" to oh no you didint!

Barack Obama should pay a price for his long association with this apostate, racist church, just as Mitt Romney did for his long record of socially liberal positions while in politics in Massachusetts and Ron Paul did for anti-black and conspiracy mongering statements in newsletters published under his name. However, in all likelihood, this recent uproar is being cranked up by the Clintons and their henchmen. This information is hitting the news way too early to benefit McCain.

Oh, man......remember all the prominent political and entertainment folks like Oprah who announced their endorsements for Obama a couple three weeks ago? I can't even remember them all......a lot of them were longtime mainstays of the Clinton Mafia family.

Their smug world just collapsed around them.

The faces of these Obama endorsers and the Judases formerly in the Hildebeests camp have so much egg on their faces right now that they could open a couple of Bob Evans restaurants. Two over easy, please.

Whoo hoo! They should have looked before they leaped......now it's like they've been freeped, LOL.

O’Bama needs to get out of that and get away from that ‘preacher.’ That stuff does not belong in church anywhere.

he's never been denounced as an apostate by any leading Muslim, even the most radical.

I agree with you 100%! Why haven't they called for his "Christian" head? Unless............

Senator Lieberman was on Hannity yesterday and Sean played the recordings of this pastor. I was rather surprised how strong Liberman came out against this. He was rather piss and showed some real emotion [for Lieberman this is huge].

Well, this "pastor" isn't just a White-hating bigot, he's also a world-class anti-Semite. The Obama problem has been percolating in the Jewish community, which, of course, has also been ignored by the MSM.

McCain wouldn’t use it anyway, he said as much on Hannity, yesterday. I don’t doubt that the Clintons are behind this. This is the ace that they didn’t want to play.

We all knew about Rev. Wright and his so-called church a year ago. All the tenets from the church’s web site were posted here on FreeRepublic and discussed. This is Clinton playing the race card, the anti-Black race card, big time, to scare all those white union voter in PA, as well as the limosine liberals in the Philadelphia suburbs. Those voters are going to take one look at the tapes of that minister and think that Obama wants to turn the whole country into Philadelphia.

The Democrats today have taken up the notion America is totally and absolutely wrong... that the original sin was the founding of America itself.

Exactly!....they heading far beyond far left to anarchy!
Why does this make me despise Ted Kennedy even more?

“Questions will prevail such as was he in the congregation when these inflamatory sermons were give and if so. why didn’t he walk out or repudiate them then.” I suspect there may be video of Obama in church during one of these ‘sermons’. They were all video taped. I’m sure Obama would have secured a front row seat so that he could be seen by all and it would be reasonable for the camera man to want to capture a US Senator in a video. If you’ve taken the time to actually pay attention to the background during these videos, the troubling thing is the reaction of the congregation. They aren’t walking out. They’re jumping up and down. They screaming their approval. Do you think Obama could even consider sitting on his hands during all this? Or would he be compelled to join in? Find that video of Obama standing and cheering some of these statements and you’ll have the political equivalent of the neutron bomb. (BTW, send it to Hillary and you and I can be the new deputy assistant under secretary of something or other or maybe even the ambassadors to Jamaca and Tahiti.)

LOL!!! Great comment! If such a video exists showing Obama either saying anything remotely like this, or cheering Rev. Wright as he does his thing, you are right - it will be over for over for Obama.

For clarification, the MSM has tried to protect Obama on this be equating Rev. Wright’s support of Obama to John Hagee’s support of McCain - which is, of course, ridiculous. McCain has totally disavowed Hagee’s statements regarding Catholics, and Hagee has never said these kinds of racial or anti-American things. Also, the main difference is that Wright is not just an endorser of Obama - HE IS OBAMA’s PASTOR OF 20 YEARS! Obama listened to this stuff for 20 years and saw no reason to cut ties with Rev. Wright. McCain has never been a member of Hagee’s church, and really does not even know him.

You are correct in that this is the ace the Clintons did not want to play. However, in their zeal to win, Hillary Clinton would become a 21st Century version of George Wallace in a pants suit if she could obtain the nomination by doing so. If John McCain believes that he can win the Presidency by engaging in gentlemanly tactics against the Clinton gang, he is sadly mistaken.

There are rumors floating on the Web about McCain's military service, including his actions while a POW, and his political career and personal life. We know about the story The New York Times published about his alleged business and social connections with a female lobbyist. The story as published had about as much substance as what you would read in a supermarket tabloid. However, if there is a "smoking gun", dirt dating back to the Keating Five days, or some disgruntled POWs wanting to be this election's Swift Boat veterans, rest assured that the Clinton smear machine will exploit it to the hilt.

Back in 2000, there were reports that McCain was brought up on Congressional ethics charges for having raped the wife of a former POW at some party. Apparently nothing came of the charges because McCain claimed that the woman was drunk and came on to him. The woman claims that she doesn’t drink or do drugs, so she could not have been drunk, a he said, she said, about an accusation where no charges were brought within the statutes of limitation. All references to this attack have disappeared from the internet, but as I recall, Maureen Dowd wrote a story about in during the 2000 election season. This will surface again, later in the election cycle, if it is indeed a matter of congressional record.

The problem is not just Obama and his pastor. If you watch the video, that “church” is filled with people who applaud Wright’s rant. These people have been indoctrinated by Wright’s hate and race baiting. They vote. How many other churches are filled with this kind of hatred?

If you don’t have a reference for something like that, you should never, never, repeat such a thing. Be assured, if there were anything like that, we would have heard about it BEFORE McCain won the nomination. One of his rivals would have dropped it to ruin him.
