Attacks on his church trouble Obama
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 3/15/08 | Mary Mitchell

When Sen. Barack Obama joined Trinity United Church of Christ 20 years ago, little did he know that the church’s charismatic pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., would become a flashpoint in a Democratic presidential primary.

Wright, an activist pastor who brought the South Side church from a 85-member congregation to an 8,000-member mega-church, has been under constant attack on Fox News’ “Hannity & Colmes” as a “cult” and “separatist” church.

In an interview, Obama told the Chicago Sun-Times that, despite the controversy swirling around Wright over racial comments he made from the pulpit about Sen. Hillary Clinton, he is not abandoning his church.

“We are still members of the church,” Obama said.

At the same time, Obama strongly condemned the racially explosive language attributed to Wright.

“The particular statements that have been pulled out of Rev. Wright’s sermons are ones that I profoundly disagree with,” Obama said, adding that he has never been at Trinity when Wright made similar remarks.

“I have felt frustrated by how the church has been characterized and by the suggestion that this is somehow a separatist church and by other statements made on these talk shows,” he said.

“Anybody who has been to the church knows this is a terrific, welcoming church,” Obama noted. Trinity “is a wonderful faith community that has done very positive things in the community and also in my life.”

The first reaction of most cult members is denial. Obviously Obama and his wife need de-programmers to make them snap out of it.

Supposedly the 1-800 numbers you call when you want leave a cult are owned by the Church of Scientology, so that would probably be the wrong route to go with.

Maybe Al Sharpton can snap them out of their trance.

Make no mistake though, he and his wife are both members of this cult, so getting them to severe relations over a 48 hour period from a cult they’ve been member of for the past 20 years, will be difficult at best... Pardon the pun.

I’m beginning to see a disturbing picture. I get the sense that Obama HONESTLY doesn’t GET what the problem is, and how DEEPLY it effects the country.

Yet- one of the foundations of his campiagn is - trust his judgment.

~snip~

Wright “has preached for 30 years,” Obama said. “I don’t think this is a well-rounded portrait of him.”

Obama, who has been campaigning across the country since last year, is no longer among the Sunday morning worshippers at Trinity.

Although still a member of the church, Obama acknowledges that these ongoing controversies have put “strains” on his relationship with his pastor.

As the gospel teaches, Obama is looking for a way to condemn Wright’s actions but still love the man.

His troubled mind doesn't equal mine. I am "troubled" and "deeply saddened" that a man who aspires to lead our majority white nation has followed a "spiritual advisor" who palpably hates white America.

Has it occurred to you that Rev. Wright has sucked up to the Islamics, when it was Arab Islamists who rounded up Africans and ran the slave bazaars whence America's slaves mostly came from? Does this whacked out hate monger have a clue that slavery still exists in many places in the world? Does it bother him that Christian blacks are being enslaved and killed by other blacks in many places? I doubt it. He is too filled with putting down whitey, and incidentally keeping his people victims.

“Anybody who has been to the church knows this is a terrific, welcoming church,” Obama noted. Trinity “is a wonderful faith community that has done very positive things in the community and also in my life.” Unless you are white.

This church teaches NO differently than what is commonly acceptable teaching at any government American History class bottom UP.

The things said by the Rev don't trouble him. People critical of what his Rev said trouble him.

Says it all, folks. He was doing a pretty good acting job up until now. He's been outed as a Black Panther sympathizer, in my opinion.

“Osama is every bit as vile as his “pastor”. “

Yes he is and he doesn’t get it.

He was trying to hide it but the all bets are off now.

Not only the pastor but the mob-like behavior of his church members was an eye-opener.

But I guess whenever Obama attended they behaved differently.

That’s a very Gary Hart-like statement that just begs for some research!

Attacks on his church trouble Obama.....And HIS church troubles me.

More like racist lunatic hate monger

As my young daughter daughter pointed out to me the Rev.Wright is much like the Pastor Fred Phelps of the WBC.

Both IMHO are lunatic hate mongers.

Now we know where his wife gets her views of America from!!!

Nah, she had them BEFORE she met the Obomination. She wrote a thesis on them.

Part 2

When she met the Obomination and they married they also signed up for reinforcement of their twisted hatred and racial bigotry. It was a marriage of hell for all.
