I can’t believe I did not proofread and catch “worser”...ugh. I deserve ridicule.

Well, with a name like Crimson Elephant, yes, a little ridicule is due . . . WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!

No harm intended, some of my friends graduated from that school in Tuscaloosa.

These comments, "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America." are not what Obama denied hearing. In fact statements like that are militant preacher boiler plate in many Black churches.

Whoa, I'm tan (Caucasian, Native American) and I attended a black church in Montgomery, Alabama, for six months back in the mid 1980's. The ONLY time politics was discussed was after the 6 hour Sunday service, at a congregational meeting, and I've forgotten what it had to do with, but it was about local politics. During the "rant" about "whites" the Pastor's blind husband called out that they weren't talking about me, but about prejudiced whites. I was the only white face in the crowd and I've never felt more accepted at any other gathering as I was for those six months at that church, with Pastor Willie Mae Rudolph.

The Sunday Service was lots of singing and lots of preaching straight from the Bible, no discussion of what color skin Jesus had, and lots of praying. There wasn't any mention of politics during the service. Not every black church is like Trinity United Church of Christ. In fact, I'd surmise most black churches are more like the one I attended than the one Obama attends.

You replied to me, but I didn’t write anything you quoted. I think you meant to reply to someone else.

Because the actual newsmedia is talking about Jeremiah Wright now.

And Newsmax was talking about it 9 months ago. How about that.

You want to watch and listen to this blurb on TUCC and you'll get a 'feel' for the Social Gospel they preach there.

This is not what I'd class as a classic Sunday go to meeting church. It's more like a social justice club for downtrodden black wannabees.

YMMV, just my opinion.

The FACT that Obama doesn't have the 1/8 Negro African blood to classify him as an African American hasn't been researched and discussed and should be. His whole persona is false. He's an Arab American. Even his father is classified in Kenya as an Arab and his ancestors on his father's side were Arab slave traders.

Maybe this will come out eventually.

“When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments.”

Anyone got anything in regards to this condemnation? Is this yet another lie, and he had only condemned Wright recently?

I don’t know. You need to keep watching threads and do Google searches I guess.

The issue is taking something that is news— that Rev. Wright is a racist nutburger— and making up things beyond that about Obama being in attendance at this sermon.

Well that was a well-researched response. I will consider this the next time I hear the Anthem sung. I grew up in the town (Frederick, MD) famous in part for raising and burying the composer of the Star-Spangled Banner, and still I never knew it was protocol specified in U.S. Code.

Correction: Not the composer of the song, but the author of the lyrics.

I think the author addressed you directly this morning on the matter of that particular sermon. But if it’s that important for you to continue to call him liar and insist that he’s making it up, knock yourself out.

Would a white candidate ever survive being linked with a race-baiting, anti-American, anti-Israel pastor? Would a white candidate survive writing about how to talk to black Americans as "tactics" or "tricks"? Does anyone believe that this kind of race-baiting and shakedown artist schtick, pushing white guilt buttons, is appropriate for an American presidential election in 2008 America?

Obama and his wife are the pampered beneficiaries of affirmative action at Ivy League colleges. They chose to associate themselves with a race-baiting demagogue for a pastor. The presidential race is being drawn into the strange, confused world of Obama's search for a racial identity and his dysfunctional family background. This is not where the country needs to go in 2008 America. We don't need to be "healed" by Obama. We don't need lectures on race and white guilt. And we don't need the weird cult of the Obamamaniacs.

We are in a war and a recession with a tumbling dollar and economic uncertainty. This isn't the time for a wild racial U-turn down the memory lane of the pre-civil rights South, driven by a confused Harvard graduate who imagines himself as the new Martin Luther King, adding fake quavering and trills to his voice in highly emotional, quasi-religious speeches. If he and his wife need "healing" they should consult a shrink.

“I don’t place my hand over my heart for the Star Spangled Banner.”

Most people do unless they are protesting against the US for whatever reason. Especially if they are actually at the event as opposed to watching it on TV. You are also supposed to remove hats and if in the armed forces, salute. Why don’t you?

Why don’t you?

I blame it all on my grammar school. See post #410 for my explanation.
