Yemeni Man Yells He Has A Bomb - Passengers Evacuated From Amtrak Train In Virginia
national terror alert ^

Posted on 03/16/2008 5:40:00 PM PDT by beericus

Allegedly he was causing a disturbance on the train and the conductor attempted to move him to another part of the train, that’s when he said he had a bomb and the bomb was in his bag” says Emporia Police Chief Bernard Richardson.

Around 2am the bomb squad determined the threat was a hoax. The Yemeni man was taken into custody by the FBI and is facing a felony charge of making a threat on a public conveyance. The hundreds of passengers were finally able to continue on their way.

A gun is convienient, but maybe if the passengers would beat to death a couple of these clowns then there would be a lot less of this.

This was just a test by one of our sleepers to see how well we will respond in case of an actual attack. The Islamofascists are constantly probing our defenses, seeing what will work and how to best cause pain and suffering. The Yemeni man understands the concept of the suicide bomber - so sacrificing a decade or two of his life to preach Islam in jail isn’t really that much of a sacrifice.

Man, I like your style! They're from parts of the world where the mob takes care of clowns like them. Perhaps if they knew they'd get strung up for pulling crap like this, they'd think twice...or decide it's best for them to keep their benighted rear ends back home with the camels.

I took Amtrak for five years, commuting from Vermont to NYC. It was hell, and all the more so when something happened and it was three or four hours late.

A bit of lead is just what that guy deserved, even if he’s not a terrorist.

Amtrak is a nice way to travel if you aren’t in a hurry and don’t get upset about delays.

Should have tied him to the tracks and then let Amtrak continue normal operations.

Oh, yes, I had an MP3 player and plenty of books, and I was on friendly terms with all the conductors and used to sit in the club car and swap stories. But when you have a long drive home from the station, with a due time of about 11:00pm, it can get pretty frustrating to arrive three hours late. Especially if you have to get your snow shovel out of the trunk and dig out of the parking lot. And first you need to get to the snow boots you left in the car.

Yeah. I only fly when I have to and need to get somewhere fast. I have to drive about 4 hours and get a hotel because the train leaves really early in the morning. I got cheap and took coach the last time . It was worse than the bus. Broken seat,No plugs available, miserable time. The sleepers are nice though. It's kind of relaxing to sleep with the rocking and the horn blowing. I have not taken a train that can keep a schedule though and a lot isn't their fault. They have to wait on freight cars a lot and people throw stuff on the tracks, and then the border patrol stops them too.

Greyhound gets around this somehow though. Maybe they factor in delays but buses are usually on schedule. If delayed , often they just pull in another bus. If Greyhound would class up a bit I would consider more traveling with them.

Wrong move. He should have been taken out by a sniper. We are certainly wasting a lot of (cheap) dollars to keep these vermin alive.

“Greyhound gets around this somehow though. Maybe they factor in delays but buses are usually on schedule. If delayed , often they just pull in another bus. If Greyhound would class up a bit I would consider more traveling with them.”

I’ve been a Greyhound fan for a long time - when I was very young, the first few trips I took were Greyhound. Then I flew for a lot of years, and only went back to the bus when my grandmother died. I had such a good experience I stuck with it. I had about four great vacations via Greyhound Ameripass, but of late, I’ve become very unhappy with them. (Won’t go back to flying, though, I just don’t like it anymore and would rather be on the ground.) I traveled with them Christmas time, and it was very unpleasant - “The New Greyhound.” The posters cover the walls at the stations, telling us how wonderful it is, but everything about this “New Greyhound” is hideous. It’s amazing how they spin a decline in service as a positive thing. (What’s the slogan - “Go More, Stop Less” - something like that. It just means we don’t go to most of the places we used to.) The only really positive thing was that they leased buses and drivers from other companies rather than put on more drivers of their own, and the best experiences I had were on Executive Coach and Lakeshore.

When I was a teenager peole didn’t care how old you were as long as you stayed out of trouble. I traveled all over a large city by bus and rode GreyHound a lot too. I never developed a dislike I guess because I was too young to expect better and it was “freedom”
Today...well I think being able to buy a reserved seat is a good idea. Money isn’t that much of a concern and I would pay more for upgrades. Some straight thru, sleepers, with an attendent. It works for Amtrak and I bet GreyHound could even make a profit.

But of course you know that you have just as good a chance to bring a gun onto an Amtrak train as you would an airliner.

He needs to be deported exactly halfway back to Yemen.

Just kick his ass out of the aircraft upon reaching that point.

Why bruise your knuckles? Just open the door and chuck the turkey out (preferably while the train is doing 55-60mph).
