I was just sharing some Twain with my neighbor yesterday:

Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times.

Many thanks.

As I pointed out, I didn’t want to believe an untruth, and you and another freeper have clarified things for me. It sounds as if this Archbishop is doing the right thing and thus I wish him well in straightening things out.

Though I’m not Catholic, I wish the Catholic Church well and also seek a future union between East and West (being Orthodox). This can only occur when both churches behave properly and the laity understand that freedom is not anarchy (but rather a liberty that comes from following the teachings of Christ in union with His Church).

The closest I ever come to unfair bashing the RCC is a good-natured jab, that I hope is understood by my friends here (mostly RC). I mock that which has gone wrong (mostly human failings), and seek to help heal the wounds.

BTW, let me recommend the book Windswept House by [Fr] Malachi Martin to my Catholic friends. It isn’t pleasant, but a good book, even though it did get an RCC bishop sitting next to me on a plane looking askew at me :)

I know of Malachi Martin’s book, but have never read it. I think we’re now long past it - if that comment makes any sense. Martin kind of went off the deep end in his last years. He apparently became a sedevacantist and even may have become an illicit bishop.
