Obama lectures us on race, gender and equality. Obama's speech text

"A More Perfect Union" Remarks of Senator Barack Obama Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

10:17:53 ET

“We the people, in order to form a more perfect union.”

Two hundred and twenty one years ago, in a hall that still stands across the street, a group of men gathered and, with these simple words, launched America’s improbable experiment in democracy. Farmers and scholars; statesmen and patriots who had traveled across an ocean to escape tyranny and persecution finally made real their declaration of independence at a Philadelphia convention that lasted through the spring of 1787.

The document they produced was eventually signed but ultimately unfinished. It was stained by this nation’s original sin of slavery, a question that divided the colonies and brought the convention to a stalemate until the founders chose to allow the slave trade to continue for at least twenty more years, and to leave any final resolution to future generations.

Of course, the answer to the slavery question was already embedded within our Constitution – a Constitution that had at is very core the ideal of equal citizenship under the law; a Constitution that promised its people liberty, and justice, and a union that could be and should be perfected over time.

And yet words on a parchment would not be enough to deliver slaves from bondage, or provide men and women of every color and creed their full rights and obligations as citizens of the United States.

If Obama wants to show what is right with America..let us hear him say the pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

________________________________________________________________

He finally references the White woman who raised him and then says that she is racist. It is not strange to me that she, an elderly White woman, is the only person in his world to whom he ascribes racist slurs.

I say Bullshit.

I couldn’t care less that he dissed Wright. It’s the timing that makes me angry and all of this is just damage control. He loves this man and you damn well better know that he agreed with most of his ideas, or he would NEVER stay under the man’s leadership.

Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam

Your OWN WIFE has denounced American, Barry.

And your preacher is a bigger bigot than Rev. Jesse Al Sharpton Jackson combined. He denounced white people for the crucifixion of Jesus "rich white europeans" because they lived in "Italy").

Shelby Steele has an excellent article in the WSJ Online today. He articulates better than anyone the issues surrounding Obama’s character and candidacy.

“As such, Reverend Wright’s comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity;”

This was no macaca moment. This is the pastor’s bread and butter. This was no stray comment said at an open mic. This was his “greatest hits” sermon series. He’s BEEN talking like this.

Maybe Obama sleeps through all the shouting in church.

So he compares wRIGHT TO A WOMAN not in the public eye, who has caused no problems for anyone??? What a pig.

On page 291, Obama describes a sermon delivered by the Rev. Wright called “The Audacity to Hope” (itself the inspiration of his second book and its now-famous title, “The Audacity of Hope”) during which Wright recounted the sermon of a fellow pastor who described a painting he had once seen titled “Hope.”

The painting depicts a harpist, Obama recalls the Rev. Wright explaining, who sits “bruised and bloodied” atop a mountain. Chaos in the form of famine, war and deprivation reign in the valley below, Wright says.

Obama quotes Rev. Wright: “ ‘It is a world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere . . . That’s the world! On which hope sits.’ “

Obama continues: “And so it went, a meditation on a fallen world. While the boys next to me doodled on their church bulletin, Rev. Wright spoke of Sharpsville and Hiroshima, the callousness of policy makers in the White House and in the State House. As the sermon unfolded, though, the stories of strife became more prosaic, the pain more immediate.”

Rest assured Obama’s recollection of that sermon is getting a closer reading.

“. . . white folks’ greed runs a world in need . . .”

Why associate myself with Reverend Wright in the first place, they may ask? Why not join another church? And I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and You Tube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way

But the truth is, that isn’t all that I know of the man.

Adolph Hitler liked dogs, children, and painting. He was above all, an art collector and established one of the finest collections in Europe. Never mind that world domination and killing every man woman and child thing. It was but a facet of his persona. < /sarcasm >

“This speech is OUTSTANDING!”

Is this your opinion? This man is dangerous. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Someone posted a photo of him superimposed to make him look like Lucifer. If anyone can find that and repost it, it will sure fit the picture of the man.

The man I met more than twenty years ago is a man who helped introduce me to my Christian faith, a man who spoke to me about our obligations to love one another; to care for the sick and lift up the poor.

But Barry! You've been claiming that your "non-observant" muslim relatives raised you as a Christian. Why did you not embrace your faith until 20 years ago?

Were you a non-observant Christian before that? Then what caused you to call those your Christian years and not non-observant muslim years or even agnostic years?

“This speech is OUTSTANDING!”

People think it's outstanding because Obama is manipulating their emotions. They get caught up in how he is making them feel. He is ill.

His speech writer is very good even though it took him/her several days to get all the right hot buttons included. It’s a speech and the only people who will be lulled back into the somatic dreamworld existence that BHO weaves so well are those who were already mesmerized.
