The Great Global Warming Hoax? (excellent)
http://www.middlebury.net/op-ed/global-warming-01.html ^ | James A. Peden

Posted on 03/18/2008 10:00:12 AM PDT by ventanax5

Our planet has been slowly warming since last emerging from the "Little Ice Age" of the 17th century, often associated with the Maunder Minimum. Before that came the "Medieval Warm Period", in which temperatures were about the same as they are today. Both of these climate phenomena are known to have occurred in the Northern Hemisphere, but several hundred years prior to the present, the majority of the Southern Hemisphere was primarily populated by indigenous peoples, where science and scientific observation was limited to non-existent. Thus we can not say that these periods were necessarily "global". However, "Global Warming" in recent historical times has been an undisputable fact, and no one can reasonably deny that.

But we're hearing far too often that the "science" is "settled", and that it is mankind's contribution to the natural CO2 in the atmosphere has been the principal cause of an increasing "Greenhouse Effect", which is the root "cause" of global warming. We're also hearing that "all the world's scientists now agree on this settled science", and it is now time to quickly and most radically alter our culture, and prevent a looming global catastrophe. And last, but not least, we're seeing a sort of mass hysteria sweeping our culture which is really quite disturbing. Historians ponder how the entire nation of Germany could possibly have goose-stepped into place in such a short time, and we have similar unrest. Have we become a nation of overnight loonies?

Chicken Little and Echochondriacs

chick2
One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when -- KERPLUNK -- an enviro-nut fell on her head
"Oh my goodness!" said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! I must go and tell President Bush."

On her way to the White House, Chicken Little met Nervous Nelly.
Nervous Nelly said that she was going into the woods to hunt for worms.
"Oh no, don't go!" said Chicken Little. "I was there and the sky fell on my head! Come with me to tell President Bush."

So Nervous Nelly joined Chicken Little and they went along and went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Crotchety Bobby, who said, "I'm going to the woods to hunt for seeds."
"Oh no, don't go!" said Nervous Nelly. "The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell President Bush."

So Crotchety Bobby joined Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along and went along as fast as they could.
Soon they met Lucy Goosey, who was planning to go to the woods to look for berries.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Crotchety Bobby. "The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell President Bush." So Lucy Goosey joined Crotchety Bobby, Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along as fast as they could.

chick3
Then who should appear on the path but sly old Owl Gore
"Where are you going, my fine feathered friends?" asked Owl Gore. He spoke in a polite manner, so as not to frighten them.

"The sky is falling!" cried Chicken Little. "We must tell President Bush."
"I know a shortcut to the White House," said Owl Gore sweetly. "Come and follow me."

But wicked Owl Gore did not lead the others to the Oval Office. He led them right up to the entrance of his Carbon Trading Pit. Once they were inside, Owl Gore was planning to turn them into Liquid CO2!
Just as Chicken Little and the others were about to go into the Owl's pit, they heard a strange sound and stopped.

chick4
It was President Bush's Special Hunting Dogs, growling and howling.

How Owl Gore hustled his fat butt, across the meadows and through the forests, with the hounds close behind.

He ran until he was far, far away and never dared to come back again.

chick1
After that day, Chicken Little always carried an umbrella with her when she walked in the woods.

The umbrella was a present from President Bush to protect Chicken Little From any Enviro-Nuts falling from Green-Trees.

And if -- KERPLUNK -- an Enviro-Nut fell, Chicken Little didn't mind a bit. In fact, she didn't notice it at all.

The End

Re: a nation of overnight loonies --> been telling my shrink friends for 3 years now that there is no shortage of people who should be on the short bus out there --> especially the rabid liberals.

Re: mass hysteria sweeping our culture --> This has been going on for at least the past 20 years... every pet peeve has become a cause of some kind --> every nitwit (e.g. Al Gore) pretends to be an expert.

So, here are a few facts in a nutshell
1. Cancer --> CO2s... carbon monoxide --> expelled from cars, trucks, buses, cigarettes. The freaks couldn't take away your transportation so they went after the smokers. Mass hysteria painted the smokers as the most vile people on the planet. When, in fact, their second hand smoke does nothing physically to you... except it stinks!!!

2. Women's health -- breast cancer, mental illness --> although the connection to abortion has been known since Roe vs Wade and most definitely since 1986... we have to endure these women's marches for a self-inflicted wound.

3. AIDS --> another self-inflicted illness

Would all the shrinks start shrinking these raging freaks!!!!

I lived with a pipe smoker for 12 years and in that time I had pneumonia, severe bronchitis at least twice a year, asthma..which landed me in the hospital when I was 5 months pregnant at age 25...the asthma attack lasted for 3 months...lost 15 lbs during that ordeal. I was sick with one lung problem or another for the duration of the time I lived with him. I finally divorced the guy and now live in a smoke free environment....I no longer have asthma...no signs of pneumonia or bronchitis. My lung health has improved immensely. This is not a scientific analysis...just my own experience. Living with a smoker=sick...living with a non-smoker=improved health.

Wonderful article. Yes, the internet is the last bastion of free speech. Main stream media will not report this, because once again, global warming is the perfect political issue.

This is just far too sensible and factual for someone of Al Gore’s intelligence to possibly understand. It needs to be greatly simplified.

lived with a smoker for 23 years --> no problems

By the way, that grandma lived to be 96... life-long smoker.

Curious: Did you have an attached garage that entered directly to the kitchen or family room?

My mom smoked from the time she was a teenager and never had any lung problems. She developed heart disease in her sixties...so she quit smoking...after a time she also developed emphesema and COPD...must be that quitting smoking caused these problems to arise...;)

I have noticed that both Al Gore and Jimmy Carter steadfastly REFUSE to debate the subjects of their books.

If you can't debate what you wrote, either it's provably incorrect or you didn't write it yourself (or both).

My tagline reflects what I think about the "warmists" as well as all other liberals collectively known as Democrats:

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.

knew two men who quit smoking... each developed lung cancer - one, 3 years after quiting ... one, 5 years after quiting

there was an article on FR about a month ago -- study from India -- quit smoking -> get cancer

seemed to urge that folks who smoke continue... shrug

it still stinks... lol

Why would they debate their own books? They have nothing to gain and you won't win then over. They said what they said, and you can debate the books with somebody else but not them.
