It's over. Obama is the nominee.
The San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | March 18, 2008 | Chris Reed

Posted on 03/18/2008 11:48:45 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It was extremely unlikely that Hillary Clinton was going to overcome Barack Obama's lead in delegates, states and total votes and take the Democratic nomination, but Obama's speech this morning -- graceful, thoughtful, nuanced, sweeping, challenging, unprecedented -- pretty much wiped out any chance at all. It was a speech Hillary could never have given -- really, few U.S. politicians ever could have given.

I write this not just because I think this will dampen the Rev. Wright controversy. I write this because Obama did an extraordinary job of presenting himself as the candidate of "the better angels of our nature," to use the phrase from Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address. His speech isn't just inspirational to millions of voters who are tired of cynicism and division. I think many in the political media will see it as redemptive on personal grounds. Maybe they really aren't spending their careers in swampland.

Which not-so-coincidentally is the name of Time magazine's fine national politics blog.

This was the race card that the Clintons didn’t want to play, just hint at, hoping that the conservatives would push it into the forefront. It didn’t work. So, they had to try again.

Obama’s speech was really to Hillary, he was throwing down the gauntlet, saying that the Democrats are really with me on the subject of race and white guilt. Obama was saying the heck with the general election, I’m fighting for the nomination, and you, (Hillary) aren’t going to win without the support of the far left and the Black voters.

The problem is aligning his rhetoric and feigned sincerity with his past twenty years of inculcation in the hate-whitey-hustle of the ‘Great Wright Way’. Obama is good at appearing sincere. His history proves he's faking. This man is extremely dangerous and we are now facing a coin with one side having the clintons blowing up the democrap party to get the nomination and the resulting race riots, and the other side has race riots as the hateful black racist way to try and scare whitey into voting for a black racist who can lie as well as sinkEmperor clintoon. Either outcome would be acceptable to Barry Obama if he gets the empowerment from it. 'blackmail' comes to mind.

Barry, the bully...well, Rush responded by saying that he would indeed do a daily Reverend Wright segment. America has a right to know what Obama’s spiritual adviser is preaching.

Reminiscent of the “debate is over” argument for global warming. That side likes to shut off debate by declaring things as “settled”.

Exactly like they have been saying that the Iraq War is lost, the economy is the worst since Herbert Hoover, etc. No need to let inconvenient facts get in their way...

This Chris Reed is such a gushing sycophant. I wonder if he spent any time with Obama in the backseat of a car?

What tripe-—this guy is just a blogger on an obscure blog whose rhetoric and turn of phrase shows he’s
learned a little something from other high-minded types (like Obama) and seem to want to attract “The Master’s” attention and maybe earn them a minor post in an BHO Administration. Obama is as big a race hustler as Sharpton or Jackson, which is why they’re on his side now-—his 20 plus year relationship with Reverend Wright tells you who he is, but it’s still NOT all you need to know about him.
We need to know how these things work, and we should know
by now, because

we’ve seen enough of them/ It’s no accident that it’s Wright is being focused on right now;(it takes the focus
off Michele Obama, which just a few weeks ago seemed to be
“all we had”.
(it is equally
no accident that people are coming up with tripe like what was just posted here. WRIGHT IS SERVING A USEFUL PURPOSE FOR HIS BOY BARACK, AND THEY BOTH KNOW IT——
HE’S ALLOWING OBAMA TO SANITIZE HIMSELF AT WRIGHT’S OWN EXPENSE. OBAMA, WHO’S PRESENTED HIMSELF AS BEING “ABOVE RACE’ JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE A MENTOR WHO WALLOWS EXCLUSIVELY IN RACE AS A WEAPON. SO OBAMA , IN THIS RITUAL OF EXPIATION IN FRONT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
comes out smelling like a rose, like the bold and fearless “healer” he’s always presented himself as. Of course, it’s the tag-team of Obama and Wright who have CREATED this whole current episode of “racial strife”.
But no one will pick up on that. Boy, are we being played for fools once again.

His speech isn't just inspirational to millions of voters who are tired of cynicism and division.

Now they will rally behind the dynamic duo of "OM" with supporters that believe America can do no "right". They believe that America is the cause of all that is wrong with the world. Michelle can be proud again and not be ashamed of her rotten country.

They believe if America was more "left" immediate nirvana will spread through out the world and we will all get along MARVELOUSLY.

Where the words freedom and liberty are no longer spoken. They've been traded for words like security, safety nets and entitlements.

El Rushbo has had this racist guy's number from the beginning. Rush is too much of a gentleman to go too far into the race card, but the looming race riots might get him to address the reality sooner or later, I just hope not too late for people to be ready for what's coming.

“Any Christian recognizes that a man who is filled with as much anger as Rev Wright has is entertaining a few demons of his own.
The members of his congregation were inspired to adapt Wright’s anger. That’s not Christian.
Obama’s “weird uncle” defense doesn’t bode well when common sense is applied.
Obama has said Wright is his spiritual adviser.
When you chose a weird uncle as your adviser, you get weird advice.
Obama’s supporters seem more interested in seeing him win than his past accomplishments or his foundation.
A man who claims to embrace Christianity as well as partial birth abortion demonstrates that he serves two masters.”

The speech was excellent to bring Dems and Independents Guilty Whites to his side.

Most of whom would be having Obamagasms if the guy had read the damned phone book.

Obama sat there in church for twenty years, listening with his kids to a preacher vilifying his country, white people in general, and the state of Israel, and lacked the moral gumption to leave. I think the halo has slipped.

Just because one is of mixed race does not mean you can excuse preaching hate and lies.

...universal health care, social security, end the war, change, change, change, bla, bla, bla...IQ challenged Americans just love those “elect me” campaign rhetoric soundbites. Politicians have been beating these types of drums for 20 years+ and nothing really changes. Anyway, I still think Obama is the manchurian candidate.

IF he is insincere then I agree with you. Maybe I’m reading too much of my own history into this. I have to say that finding a sincere politician is the needle in the haystack. I’m not happy at all with our choices but will vote McCain.

Hillary would need something like 70% of the superdelegates to come her way after the primary, Obama, something like 30 or 40 %.

The chair of the DNC is Nancy “respect the will of the people/pledged delegates” Pelosi.

Her chances of winning the nomination are at best 20% imo.
