We are currently the world’s only superpower, and though Russia and China are now doubling their military efforts and budget we still lead by a country mile. (Statistics widely available for anyone who can spell Google can confirm.)
I know we have lost many great American men and women. I know that those families who have buried their loved one(s) have done so with both pain and pride (Cindy Shehand and her ilk being the exception). I know that thousands have been hurt and now live the rest of their lives with pain. I know war. However I am positive what we have gained and are gaining every day far outweighs the cost.
We must never underestimate how grueling it is to properly conduct in-theater war operations. The logistics, manpower needs, cost analysis, political navigation and the long list of other essentials make any “mock-up” war game a child’s game of chutes and ladders. To effectually maintain the highest level of post 9-11 readiness we must hone our blade in real combat…. There is simply no substitute.
As we go forward into the 21 century and face the rising tide of global Islamic fascism we will fight again and again and yes again. We are in a knife fight with a religion that blinds men with hate and represses all humanity in its followers…. This is just the 1st inning and we are ahead 6-1, if we wish to keep and build upon this lead we must keep in the fight.

well, if nothing else, we finally got off our dead arses when compared to 8 years of clinton and how many hits here on our shores not to mention all those abroad.
I don’t want to see any troop die in vain nor do I relish all the suffering that has ensued on both sides to way too many innocents.
Unfortunately, we are in a struggle for our existence and sadly, it is on more than one front and yet, many in our own gubamint are eithher too stupid to recognize it or are willing to be complicit in the fight by working with the enmies with or without their knowledge.

It is a definite improvement over the previous 12 years of on and off again wars with Saddam who rejected the peace settlements of the 1991 Gulf War.
The saber waving came to a head in 1998.
That’s over and done with. We haven’t been fighting that combat mission from 2003 for a number of years.
It took 45 years to end the Cold War but it is hardly a reason to call WWII a failure.
It took decades to end the insurgency of the KKK in the post Reconstruction South after the Civil War.

At the pace people were being murdered by Saddam, I'll bet there are a fair number alive who would otherwise be dead. Makes a difference to them.
Another fact is that there were a boatload of jihadists who went to their 72 Virgins in Iraq and Afghanistan...if they are fighting over there, it is a lot more difficult for them to blow us up and kill us over here. I would say that is a fact.
