uh, when I tip, I tip the person who waited on me. Not their boss. What is unfair is starbucks stealing their employees money.

Well, maybe this is why they had to shut down a few weeks ago on an evening and “Re-Train” their employees.

The Uber Libs had such a sissy fit that it was Shep Smith's
lead on the fox News Channel.

Shep needs to be conscripted into the Military, maybe then he could achieve little boy status... with alot of hard work.

Starbuck’s is a liberal joke, they need to be decommissioned.

Starbucks is so wrong. The tip is for the person who served you, when you feel that they went above and beyond, at your discretion.

Starbucks is stealing tips from those workers to pay shift managers, instead of paying the managers more themselves. Jeeeezus this is just low.

Starbucks, with all their problems, has its head so far up its coffee grinder, I can’t believe the people in charge there would let this person embarrass them like this.

Good - Starbucks should pay its shift supervisors more instead of including them in the tip pool for baristas (fancy term for the kid who brews the coffee).

Starbucks has any right to have their pay structure the way they want it. Does the shift manager stock up for the employees? Who knows.

As a bartender, I got tips from waitresses that I served drinks right quick. They just thought, and rightly so, a little grease to the bartender made make more money overall.

calling it "fundamentally unfair and beyond all common sense and reason."

Welcome to the legal system

Why should I tip an employee at Starbucks for nothing more than doing their job? The only people who are suppose to get tips are bellboys, waitresses, and taxi drivers.

I don’t understand the fasination with Starbucks. I’ve never been there and may never be. It seems to be a “ringtone” for those who have no grasp of learning anything but acceptance from pop culture.

Why is it that I never see tip jars at a Burger King or McDonalds. Those people work just as hard as a Starbucks coffee pourer/pastry fetcher and get paid even less.

I've actually given up on Starbucks and went back to Dunkin Donuts because that Starbucks just gets weirder all the time. Though Dunkin Donuts has their own issues like those infernal sandwiches. Everytime somebody in front of me orders one, I know I am in for a long wait as that sandwich making process really gums up the works. They should have just stuck to coffee and donuts.

"... calling it 'fundamentally unfair and beyond all common sense and reason.'"

What? They expect judicial decisions to do all that? Geez!

If you get them to do it, GREAT! Then have them explain affirmative action, quotos, anti-2nd Amendment laws, abortions, hate speech, etc.

There are IRS laws about this stuff. Tip distribution schemes must be set up and agreed to by the employees, not management.

Waiters are paid by individual customers for the service they provide - just like everyone else we pay. By sitting down you agree to pay for service. This is the American preference.

These tip threads are kinda fun.

To shake things up:

Do you tip at a buffet restaurant? They do have servers, but their main job seems to be refilling your drinks. It's not like they take your order and bring the food out and otherwise "serve" you... well, they don't serve as much as a traditional sit-down place.

A sign next to a tip jar in a restaurant at a ski resort ... “Tipping is not a city in China”.

The dude who throws the Wall Street Journal onto my drivewway expects a tip at Christmas, or else the paper will end up in the bushes or under the cars every morning the following year. And he’s the one who can afford to send his kids to out of state colleges!

Tipping at stand-up counters is and has always been optional, and the tip jars on counters are a relatively new thing. Sit down service is another matter.

Good thing they didn’t try this at Paisano’s. Vittorio would NOT have stood for it.

I have never ever been in a Starbucks or ever had a cup of their coffee, but I read alot and have heard stories third hand. I have heard they have something called tip jars on the counter because I have heard that you are not waited on at the table you are going to sit at. Anyway in my perverse conservative mind, I always thought if you could ever add up all the money in the tip jars, you could like put a dollar figure on liberal guilt. Tip jars equates with liberal guilt is the way I always had it pictured even though I can never remember patronizing a place with a tip jar for counter service.

I won’t throw my pocket lint into a tip jar. You don’t get a tip for being the cashier. Here’s a tip: Get a real job.
