A brief for Whitey (“We hear the grievances. Where’s the gratitude?”)
World Net Daily ^ | March 21, 2008 | Patrick J Buchanan

Posted on 03/21/2008 3:57:54 AM PDT by Conservative Vermont Vet

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.

Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

"Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks – with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas – to advance black applicants over white applicants.

"Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks..

"We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?.

"As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?.

"Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?.

"We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing..

"Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago."

Boy, Pat’s on a roll. Two good one’s in a week (“Playing by O’bama’s Rules http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=58869)

Don’t agree with Buchanan on many issues, but he does have some insightful commentary on certain matters and this is a Home Run, though expect him to be piloried far and wide as a far-rigt, bigot.

Ah, a lone voice crying in the wilderness from the Conservative side.

While not the “third rail” it used to be, addressing these issues as Pat does, continues to be one which Republicans/Conservatives avoid like the plague.

One could only hope that McCain--if B.O. should get the nod--will have the courage to challenge Barack with much the same direct, open-mindedness.

Sadly, there is about as much chance of that coming to pass, as there is for it to be 70 and Sunny tomorrow here, in Burlington, Vermont.

Moreover, this is symptomatic of what we can expect during the general campaign. Most critique of B.O. (regardless of how germane or accurate) will be “suggested” as being as being racist and dutifully reinforced as such, by the “Amen” choir and cheeleading squad within the corrupt Lame Stream Media.

Thus IMHO (as well views expressed from those much more enlightened and erudite than I) should Barack get the nomination, it will be extremely difficult to mount an effective battle and regardless of his inexperience, far-left positions, or even his major shortcomings and “poor judgment?” (as we have witnessed this past week) will not prevent him from being the candidate who will be much more difficult to defeat.

Be afraid, y’all, be very afraid.

I had a conversation similar to this with a black co worker. First he said no amount of reparations could make up for the “Black Holocaust” white America had inflicted on blacks. Second he files a discrinination complaint against me with my management.

Go figure.

I know a few small business owners who steer clear of hiring blacks because of the race card. Most small businesses could not afford to fight a discrimination suit which could be filed for just about anything.

The expectation of this imaginary inheritance the Black people continue to hold against other races in the U.S. hostage is ridiculous. There are millions of non-white nationalities who have migrated here, learned the language, the customs, and have had no problem supporting themselves without insisting we take care of them.

My question is why did the Blacks not make a homeward bound journey to Liberia which was specifically created for their freedom and reparation? Why? Because things are so good in the U.S.A.

Enough. Let the Obama Legacy be that finally the American people are going to say what has only been whispered for decades.

Its called the "Sins of our Ancestors," whether or not it is applicable to all, such as me (my parents having emigrated from Canada in the 40's) and countless others.

Matters not a whit. If we are white--we are all guilty by association

Pay up white-boy.

Because they are 2 separate though somewhat related issues.

Yes his anti-American screed applies to all

However, his racial hate-speech was directed singularly, at Caucasians.

America seems poised on the edge of an abyss... where She will elect "The First American Black President" in a badly misplaced, guilt-ridden frenzy to try to balance the scales for what is popularly believed to have been the unprecedented insult of 200 years of White-on-Black slavery.

Such nonsense would never find it's way into anything other that a badly written Hollywood "B" script just because the totality of the historical facts do not support the premise.

Slavery did not originate with White Europeans. The first slave owners were People of Color. The northern African Egyptians enslaved the Jews (caucasians) for over 400 years alone.

Do we see Haischa Imperfeldt screaming for reparations, or condemning the Africans? No. Haischa and his people grabbed themselves by the bootstraps, pulled themselves to their full height and made something of themselves without whining for a handout because their ancestors had been mistreated.

So when we talk about White-on-Black slavery, was there perhaps a reason why it occurred? I believe there was.

The roll of the dice. It was our turn. Get over it, America.

And even if you can't get over it, your displacement of aggression which finds expression in (of all ridiculous things) a self-effacement brought on by guilt over being among the planet's "Have's" for a few decades is no reason to hand the reins of the greatest Nation in civilized history to an America-hating black man whose peculiar brand of Christianity looks more and more like Islam whenever you peel back the layers of its hatred for White America.

America should learn to accept history's penchant for rolling the dice with some grace and dignity. The same can be said of Obama and his angry "I want a handout" hangers-on.

We could all learn something from Haischa Imperfeldt. And we better do just that, before it's too late.

Another thing about howling about America’s slave history all the time.....

#1 - Obama has zero slave heritage. He’s a bad choice for their grievance boy

#2- My people got here in 1900. I have little interest in slavery and the Civil War. Blacks should only be hounding whites who were here prior to the Civil War

#3 Given high immigration rates after 1865 I’ll bet 70% of white Americans cannot trace American ancestry to pre-Civil War days

#4 Hispanics are the new #1 minority. Blacks have yet to figure this out and their stupid “leaders” were/are open borders anyway

Nitpicking here - in your eagerness to make your point against “people of color,” you’ve labeled Jews as Caucasians.

Jews (and Arabs for that matter) are Semites; they have always been Semites. Spending a few centuries in Europe doesn’t make them Caucasian.

Here is a basic reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic

Second he files a discrinination complaint against me with my management.

Have you considered suing this individual in civil court? For me, I never try to discuss anything political at work, simply because I need my paycheck too much. If someone fired a shot across the bow at me like this, and I knew who they were, I would find the sleaziest lawyer I could get (that would work for a cut of the loot) and sue this person for everything he's got.

I hope you prevail.

“I had a conversation similar to this with a black co worker

I don’t know what was said. But I assume the complaint was because you disagreed.

If this is so, then this is why I am most whites refuse to talk about race. There is nothing you can say that will not be twisted to become some racial insult.

My husband was talking to a subcontractor on a small house renovation about how black the floors were and how it was going to be hard to refinish them.

The black subcontractor immediately took that as a racial slur.

With nonsense like this, there is no discussion. Who wants to talk about race when there is no way it can be discussed openly. Besides which, I have heard nothing BUT race in 40 years. It has been talked to death at this point, but only in one direction.

So, no. Whitey will keep their thoughts to themselves until the Blacks can be honest enough to hear them.

The roll of the dice. It was our turn. Get over it, America.

What B.O. could have said in his speech but would never do so:

"Of course, I sincerely hope none of you ever learn what I and many other Blacks and Muslims know and do our best to keep this information hidden, that, according to Robert Davis between 1 million and 1.25 million Europeans were captured by Barbary pirates and sold as slaves in North Africa and Ottoman Empire between the 16th and 19th centuries.

"Moreover, the coastal villages and towns of Italy, Portugal, Spain and Mediterranean islands were frequently attacked by them and long stretches of the Italian, Portuguese and Spanish coasts were almost completely abandoned by their inhabitants; after 1600 Barbary pirates occasionally entered the Atlantic and struck as far north as Iceland.

"What I would also want to keep quiet is the fact that the Atlantic slave trade peaked in the late 18th century, when the largest number of slaves were captured on raiding expeditions into the interior of West Africa.

"These expeditions were typically carried out by African kingdoms, such as the Oyo empire (Yoruba), Kong Empire, Kingdom of Benin, Kingdom of Fouta Djallon, Kingdom of Fouta Tooro, Kingdom of Koya, Kingdom of Khasso, Kingdom of Kaabu, Fante Confederacy, Ashanti Confederacy, Aro Confederacy and the kingdom of Dahomey. Bet you did not know that Europeans rarely entered the interior of Africa?

I will not have race discussion except with my very close white friends. The irrational response based on no facts from minorities is to much and I just do not fell like dealing with it.

1. It is ancient history so just get over it. The facts are that blacks did it to blacks first. All of my lily white ancestors were oppressed and enslaved by someone else. Does not bother me.

2. I could forget about race if you stopped rubbing my face in it.

For most of my life I have heard about the discrimination of white on black. I have stood and listened to countless lectures by black and white liberals and have often wondered if we would ever get past it. Maybe this will be the catalyst to end this insatiable guilt trip we have been forced on. It is time to tell the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons and all the other race baiters and welfare pimps to take a hike. My grandparents did not benefit from slavery,my parents did not benefit from slavery, I did not benefit from slavery and my kids and grandkids certainly did not benefit from slavery but all of us have had to pay for it. Enough is enough I think it’s time this group of people took responsibility for their own rotten choices.

Dennis, the whites who’ve been here prior to the Civil War, including the ones that actually owned slaves (a minority) are all dead.

We’ve paid enough reparations, thank you. Hundreds of thousands of men died during the Civil War, and the country has paid billions in the War on Poverty.

At some point, we need to say enough. If a person in this country is poor, and especially uneducated, he MUST bear personal responsibility for his situation. If he is physically or mentally disabled, the rest of us should help him, of course.

We will only be even after there is oppression of Whites by someone, maybe the Muslims that want to take over our country. Enough is enough I think it’s time this group of people took responsibility for their own rotten choices.

Having grown up in the "Whitest" state (Vermont) in the Union (we had ONE black student in my high school of about 200 and 2 families in my town with a pop of about 6,000) I was woefully and blissfully ignorant regarding racial issues until I joined the AF in 1962.

Though not an issue in basic or for the 6 months I attended a technical school, racism did rear its head when I got stationed in Japan.

We (whites) and blacks each had their separate off-duty congregation places.

Whites went out one gate and blacks went thru the another.

We each frequented our own clubs, restaurants, laundries, stores, "hostesses," etc.

Not sure how long that practice had been ongoing or how it started, but it did not pose any serious problem as when working, we all seemed to get along and there was scant racial overtones or issues noticed.

One was judged by how well he (as there were no females) could accomplish their task--not by the color of their skin.

Sadly, much later, (in 70's and 80's) while living in N.J., was surprised to learn the degree of prejudice by blacks towards whites and it was not subtle by any means.

The moral? Yes, there has been and continues to be White racist, however, there is also considerable animosity by blacks towards whites as well as toward Latinos and orientals. However, no one dares even suggest this to be an issue or problem.

The moral?

WE are ALL vilains--they are ALL automatically, given a pass.

I also don't often agree with Pat, but this is something that needs to be said. The days of race being a one-way conversation are over. . . IF people continue to speak up despite the initial blowback.

This bears repeating from the piece:

The "white community," said Barack, must start "acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination – and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past – are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds. ..."

And what deeds must we perform to heal ourselves and our country?

The "white community" must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with "ladders of opportunity" that were "unavailable" to Barack's and the Rev. Wright's generations.

What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?

Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, "everybody but the rioters themselves."

This may not be a popular view here, but pat expounds the same kind of not so soft racism Obama does, both far short of Wright. You’ll note he accepts Wright’s vision of two Americas, and notes a litany of things “white America” has done for “black America”, a cohesive vision of America is foreign to Wright, Obama and Buchanan. For Buchanan it’s a white vs black world. No different than Wright.

Blacks commit crimes more often that whites but you need to remember that, since blacks are only 12% of the population, a black criminal is more likely to victimize a white person that a white criminal will choose a black victim -- assuming victims are chosen at random.

This is the only way to break the stranglehold these racist bigots such as Wright have on the black community and the only way to free these people from the Black Theology plantation.

Gratitude, as a starting point and a worldview, is highly empowering. Gratitude wipes out victimhood. Victimhood = self-imposed slavery.

At some point, we need to say enough. If a person in this country is poor, and especially uneducated, he MUST bear personal responsibility for his situation. If he is physically or mentally disabled, the rest of us should help him, of course.

The esential problem here is one of personal responsibility, not race. Like those in the Middle East who pass on hatred of Israel to the next generation, Wright et al. do everything possible to teach the next generation that they have NO personal responsibility for the state of their lives.

We don't have a racial divide in this country. We have a divide between those whose community teaches, or at least pays reference to, personal responsibility and those whose community teaches that individuals are NOT responsible for themselves and their choices.

Victimhood = self-imposed slavery.

Personal responsibility = freedom to become.

2- My people got here in 1900. I have little interest in slavery and the Civil War. Blacks should only be hounding whites who were here prior to the Civil War

Stunning statement there. My 6th GGrandfather, from Scotland, landed in Virginia on a ship in 1696 as an indentured servant, brokered by a known English slave trader. And he spent years in that capacity until the land owners death. For this I have official records. Should I be hounded by the race hustlers, ya think?

These black churches are starting to sound like madrassas.

I think many Americans had no idea this kind of stuff spewed from pulpits week after week right in our midst.

I’m beginning to think rather than finally demonstrate that racism has been transcended in America, Obama is going to end up setting the dialogue back by a few decades. This is horrible.

That's a distinct possibility, it depends on the voices heard during the forthcoming "discussion". IMO race will be one of the major issues of the campaign, Obama has already legitimized the views of a racist like Wright, hopefully the injection of hate goes no further than that.

As I see it,

holding onto these grievances about

THINGS THAT AREN’T HAPPENING NOW

is simply a crutch and an excuse to fail.

It’s not skin color or racism in society that’s keeping people down, as demonstrated by the success of very dark people coming from Africa and succeeding in our country.

It is ‘pay-up white boy.’ For me, the payment came in the Civil War.

Pick up your mats. Resentment and whining are not useful tools for adult life.

I see your point, but it goes too far to claim there is a moral equivalence between these two observations of a non-cohesive America.
