Subway Miracle: Hero Beats Long Odds To Make Save
CBS ^ | 3/20/08 | NEW YORK (CBS)

Posted on 03/21/2008 5:47:21 AM PDT by Nick Thimmesch

You're about to meet a subway hero, who jumped onto the tracks to save a man. But as CBS 2 HD has learned, his leap of faith was just the beginning.

Veeramuthu Kalimuthu -- or Kali – is a mechanic at Columbia University. His recent actions make him a hero in the truest sense of the word. And if not for someone else coming forward to tell his story, the public would never know what he did on March 14.

I thought you had to overcome a drug addiction to be a hero. Or read a book to a underprivileged child. Telling someone that their off-color joke isn't funny makes you a hero. Probably the best way to be a hero is to vote for change.

Anyway, risking your own neck to save someone else's life doesn't make you a hero today. Sorry.

He did the right thing. Don't let your permission bastardize the true meaning of what a real hero is.

I guess you don't recognize sarcasm when you see it, GOP_Party_Animal should have used the /s tag because some people on FR have no sense of humor at all.

I saw the comment as a pessimistic reality in the MSM. First thought is NOT to let someone else redefine what the real meaning is.

Besides, there is always someone trying to p*ss on your parade.

I also want to add, calex59, I’m not in the mood for a lecture.

“People should help people,” Kali said. “If all of us get along well in this world then we’ll get a better world to live.”

He forgot to mention Universal Healthcare, more money for education, and mortgage bailouts.

because some people on FR have no sense of humor at all.

We are serious people around here. Having a sense of humor earns you a badge in the Freeper honor role of proscribed Marxists. [/sarcasm for the idiots around here who lack sense of humor and should be beat senseless until they get one /sarcasm on sarcasm]

The MSM already did that. GOP is merely demonstrating that fact.

Agreed. Got that already and the guy is a hero. Someone pointed out the hypocrisy of liberal double think and everyone is all over him. Sheeesh.

"People were getting their cell phones out trying to call the police, somebody's got to help him and then I looked over and I saw the gentlemen Kali jump down, hop over the rails," said witness Ed Dijoseph, who brought Kali's story to CBS 2 HD.

I find it suprising that there is no device, button, etc. that someone could hit in situations like these. Something to give the train engineers a warning as they approach a station, and give them time to slow down.

So the guy was drunk, fell on the tracks and would have laid there to die. MM.

Kali is indeed an American Hero. God bless him.

If there were such a button, that passengers on the platform could push ... the “disaffected yoots” would be hitting it all the time.

Where was the guvment to save this poor soul in such mortal danger?

Bottom line, when the $#!+ hits the fan, I’ll take one self-reliant person on my side over one hundred libs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Communia U fires this man - as he’s just outed himself with at least one conservative bone in his body.

Thanks. Some of us expound greatly, but would not tap dance over 600 volts to help someone else.

Kali knew the danger. He also knew he had to try and save that stranger. He is what we all need to be.
