'O' WHAT A LUCKY BREAK THIS FELLOW IS GETTING
NY Post ^ | Mar. 21, 2008 | CHARLES HURT

Posted on 03/21/2008 8:12:38 AM PDT by COUNTrecount

Call him Barack O'Bama - for he's got the luck of the Irish.

The very week he faces his toughest obstacle ever - one that may still derail his candidacy - Obama gets a near-game-ending pot of gold.

It now appears certain that Hillary Rodham Clinton's efforts to rewrite party rules in a desperate search for a lifeline have failed.

Her absurd proposal of counting her "wins" in Michigan and Florida - long after everyone agreed they wouldn't count - has been laughed off the table.

And now, it appears, there won't even be any revotes.

While revotes are the only way to resolve the matter justly, they would have been problematic for Obama ever since his insane preacher - who makes the Black Panthers seem docile - became a household name.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright would have terrified elderly Democrats in Florida and blue-collar whites in Michigan.

But Obama's luck doesn't end there. The timing of this whole mess couldn't have been better, because it competed for airtime with Eliot Spitzer's sexcapades.

The tapes have been around for years but came out only after Obama established himself as a solid front-runner.

And when they finally got widespread attention, it was during the longest spell of the campaign without any contests.

The next primary is still more than four weeks away in Pennsylvania, where Obama was going to lose anyway.

But luck is never just luck, and Obama works very hard.

The Wright scandal has been Obama's Gennifer Flowers moment.

And just as Bill Clinton handled that first great bimbo eruption, Obama handled this quite deftly.

That speech was a dud, and the real lucky person in the equation is John McCain. Baraq can’t be elected and the Nominatrix can’t get nominated w/o splitting the party — ergo, McCain gets elected and the Dimwits implode. America wins.

Nice post. Pithy. I think your analysis is spot on.

I simply do not understand the incessant slamming of Barak Oobama by conservatives while he campaigns in the Democrat Party for the Presidential nomination.

The man has absolutely no chance of winning.

Hillary, on the other hand, is IMO probably the most dangerous person to ever hold a Federal Office, and that is because she can win in the election.

What the farkle? Why are so called right wing commentators doing with this Obama bashing agenda? What will be accomplished? Hillary gets the nod?

John McCain cannot win a debate or even a Q&A with the media. He is a joke. McCain is almost as weak a candidate as Bob Dole was.

In any case, this nation is seriously screwed for at least the next 4 years, and possibly forever because of what has occurred in the primaries already.

The MSM needs new fresh meat every day to feed the bottom line.
The Wright cycle will fade.
Next up....SOMEONE’S been snooping into O’bambi’s passport information. Gee, who could that be?

I don’t think so. McCain wants it. Bad.

Agreed. I had him pegged for this back when he was my Representative.

Who’s going to give millions to 527s to run anti-Wright ads?

McCain has already said he won’t touch the issue, so that leaves out donations to the McCain campaign or the Republican party being used for such attacks. McCain’s support comes from moderates and independents, who by definition don’t care enough about politics to donate appreciable sums or form 527s. Monetary and other support from conservatives will be problematic at best. And some blue collar white Democrats may vote for McCain, but their union dues will be used to promote Obama whether they like it or not. From where are the millions of dollars going to come in order to run commercials all year long of Wright’s hate speech?

Meanwhile, Dem 527s have announced that they’ve set aside upwards of $350 million,IIRC, for attacks on McCain.

Wright is an ignorant, race baiting, arrogant, BS artist.

The man is simply a no good lying puke.

I am not angry. I genuinely believe that Mc Queeg is not stable, I have always thought this. I do believe there is something so perverse in his nature that he would destroy the goal he covets the most.
The guy is a nut.

No, Captain in the Navy is an O-6, just like a bird colonel in the Army or Air Force or Marines.

You're thinking of Commodore, which is an obsolete term. They are now Rear Admirals (lower half.)

"Who’s going to give millions to 527s to run anti-Wright ads?"

Good question. I would hope the liberal or "moderate" wing of the GOP would be doing it. If they don't, or if McCain thinks he can take his "high road" to victory, he is crazier than I thought.

When the Democrats have held their convention & it’s just McCain vs Obama, we’ll start hearing about The Keating Five, of which McCain was a member.

As a side note: it's 9:55 and bill Richardson, looking very macho today, is telling me (on Fox) that Obama's speech was healing and a call for all Americans must work together.

And, of course, that mexicans are being picked on because of George Bush (snicker).

That "respect for international human rights" trumps everything else (like the WOT) and wars are a distraction from fighting Al Quiada (what?).

Barry is a "steadfast patriot and a really good guy"...including "he could have thrown me under the bus..." (hear that granny?).

Finally, "Si Se Puede"

Barry meanwhile stood there looking all presidential, thoughtful, and possibly a bit miffed that someone else is talking. Now I'll turn off the TV before Barry steps up and opens his face and somebody faints.

And now, for the post I intended to make:

"And just as Bill Clinton handled that first great bimbo eruption, Obama handled this quite deftly.
...Obama laid bare his soul.
...he triangulated the problem.
...he changed the subject from his Pastor Eruption.
He out-Clintoned even the Clintons and somewhere, Bill Clinton is marveling over how he backed the wrong horse in this race."

That sort of summarizes what he might have done but hardly what he's done and I really doubt what he intended to do.

Today's Richardson endorsement only underlined the have versus have-not baseline of Obama's message. It might have tipped his choice for VP as well.

But you've got to love the author's punch line about backing the wrong horse.

I was at my Aunt's house yesterday afternoon, and she had Oprah on. (w/ liberal nutcase Celine Dion)

anyway, I mentioned to my aunt (a blue-dog democrat who doesn't like Hillary!) that Oprah went to church with Obama!.

I also mentioned to my aunt that he stood as pro-abortion, and that the democratic party of now isn't like the democratic party of previous years......
