PATERSON'S INN TROUBLE (billed taxpayers for 13 hotel stays 20 min from home)
NY POST ^ | March 24, 2008 | KENNETH LOVETT, Post Correspondent

Posted on 03/24/2008 6:07:13 AM PDT by Liz

He owned a house less than 20 minutes from the Capitol, but Lt Gov. Paterson routinely used taxpayer money to stay at nearby hotels.....Credit-card records from the state Comptroller's Office showed he charged his state credit card for 13 Albany hotel stays totaling more than $2,500 between Jan. 1, 2007, and Feb. 18, 2008. With a NYC primary residence, property records show Paterson purchased a house in Guilderland in late 2001......since last year, Paterson charged his state credit card for 12 stays at the Clarion Collection Hotel and one at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, both down the street from the Capitol. Despite having a state driver to chauffeur him the 20 minutes home, Paterson sometimes stayed downtown.... "Lt Gov Paterson had a grueling schedule that required him to be near the Capitol.... to quickly respond to the urgent needs of the state." One state-government source laughed at the explanation, noting that lieutenant governors are not involved much in day-to-day matters and have no role in budget negotiations. The 13 hotel charges on his state credit card are on top of the nearly two dozen Albany hotel stays Paterson paid with his campaign account as a state senator from 2002 until he became lieutenant governor. Though the campaign could not provide documentation, hotel expenses were claimed for campaign workers and campaign-related events.

Just wondering---were Paterson's hotel stays overnighters? Or just for a couple hours while he "recharged his batteries" to ready himself to do the heavy work of state (snicker).

"routinely used taxpayer money to stay at nearby hotels"

Not to worry. I imagine the state auditors are all loyal Democrats.

Okay, let’s start a Patterson resignation countdown! Will he be the shortest term NY governor in history?......

Did anyone really expect Spitzer’s Lt. to be an honest man?

He’s already admitted he’s had affairs. It appears to this amused citizen that the governor had some of these affairs, on tax-payer money, just moments from the capitol AND his home. Of course, he’s blind so he didn’t realize this.

Today’s politicians remind me of big bloated ticks filled with the blood of the hosts (taxpayers) that they have parasitically attached themselves on.

Of course. That makes sense. Guilderland is over 52,000 miles from downtown Albany... oh wait, make that feet. It's 52,000 feet, or about 10 miles. Never mind.

There is a $5 billion deficit here in the People’s Republic of New York. Pretty difficult to figure out just what all that urgency was.

Culture of corruption.

Of course, a blind man has the perfect defense:

Prosecutor: “Mr. Paterson, let me show you these documents...”

Paterson: “I’ve never seen these documents.”

Impeach this rodent NOW:

Just another democrat party thief and low life. NY cannot afford 3 years of total corruption and looting by the total dirtbags in Patterson’s entourage (about whom there is a media black-out). Patterson’s career in the State Senate was despicable, and bodes very, very poorly.

He will last about as long as Floyd Patterson did against Sonny Liston.
