According to many expert economists, the economy of the United States is headed toward a recession or definitely a major slowdown. However, many Americans, based on their current personal finances, would affirm that America does have a recession already. But, in an effort to help the economy, President Bush and Congress have approved a $168 billion dollar economic stimulus package to help to jump start the economy. As a result, Americas sluggish economy would hopefully begin an upward trend once again. Each individual taxpayer would get a $600 rebate check and each couple would get a $1200 rebate check. The United States government expects this extra money to be spent immediately by American taxpayers in order to increase the demand for American goods and the creation of American jobs

There’s never been a recession with interest rates this low, and there won’t be this time. Misery loving Dems and FReepers to be deeeply saddened.
Don’t fight the Fed. Stock market has bottomed.
>> Is the Economic Stimulus Package A Farce?
It’s pandering. And not even effective pandering.
Just more Demopublican socialism.
It will more than likely be spent on bills, gas and groceries.
The ESP is pure socialism.
In the end the Federal Government will borrow the 168 billion from the Chinese.
That 168 billion will be sent out to Americans.
Americans will buy consumer goods that are made in China and the Chinese will recapture that 168 billion that they loaned the US.
The American tax payer will repay with interest the 168 billion borrowed from the Chinese.
Sounds like a good deal if you are a Chi-Com.
I know I’m waiting so I can get some new tires for my car. The rest will be used to fill my oil tank. Done! Stimulus complete.
I dunno, I kind like getting some of MY tax dollars back........
Wow, somebody who gets it. And he’s right on. This “stimulus” isn’t going to help. It’s just redistribution of income.
Did you see the article where hilliary is now complaining the stimulus package isn’t helping one bit? I would guess the fact that the checks won’t be issued for another 5 weeks might have something to do with that. But, hey, why let facts stand in the way of a good rant?
Not me! I'm gonna buy carbon credits! That'll show 'em!............
You are not getting your tax dollars back.
You are simply borrowing money from the Chinese that you will have to pay back with interest.
They would have done just as much good by throwing money out of airliners crossing the country.
All they did was take money away from capital formation and gave it to people for capital consumption.

Congress could save time and expense by sending the money directly to China.
I’m having a special “two for one” sale on carbon credits. As an incentive for early offsetters, I’ll invest in tree planting, so you can use 2 sheets of TP.
Why not just cut 168 billion in federal spending?
That sounds pretty stimulating.
This is not true. I did my taxes this weekend and found out I "make too much" to qualify for any part of the rebate. I imagine my $600 is going to some loser who doesn't even work for a living.
So is the rebate a farce? Darned right it is.
The only thing it was designed to stimulate was votes.
See, that is a misunderstanding of how things work. The debt has to be created and distributed. If you merely don’t create it and don’t spend it you lose the multiplier effect.
