Does Everyone Hate President Bush?
Powerline ^ | 24 March 2008 | John Hinderaker

Some certainly do. And one could easily get the impression that the Bush-haters have become a majority. To be sure, President Bush's approval ratings continue to languish in the 30s. But Presidential approval ratings are a very blunt instrument, and these data from the Tarrance Group suggest that the full story is more balanced.

Most striking to me is that 56% of respondents approve of the President personally. This seems remarkable in view of the endless, savage attacks that have been launched on Bush by the Left and repeated, often uncritically, in the mainstream media.

Beyond that, a number of President Bush's policies are popular: reauthorizing the Protect America Act (70%), a budget that is lower than proposed by Democrats and that contains no tax increases (65%), the recently-enacted stimulus package (64%), the surge in Iraq (52%), and others. In addition, 73% agree with the proposition that the Bush administration went on the offensive against terrorists, and 65% say that it has kept Americans safe from terrorist attacks.

For many reasons, 2008 will be a challenging year for Republicans. But these data indicate that the Democrats may be mistaken if they think that "tarring" any Republican candidate by association with the President is a sure-fire strategy.

He left the GOP high and dry with a VP who could not lead us to another conservative victory...leaving McCain..more of the same as in bending over to the Muslims and OPEC and not forcing ANWR and just plain lackadaisical supporting RINOS and not sticking by some appointees such as Bolton and sticking by other really awful people like Wolfowitz etc.

His recognition of the rogue state of Kosovo has got to be the single biggest mistake ever and will be judged accordingly.

Finally, the WH was not meant to be a playground for the nice kids only. He has left the GOP floundering and the conservative right in tatters.

I’ve been disappointed but grateful we’ve had him these last 8 years.

Disappointed in his spending policies, lack of border enforcement, claiming Islam is a ROP, and especially his illegal alien crap. Grateful for his SCOTUS appointments, support of our Military, etc.

No, I don't hate him but by and large I think his presidency has been a large disappointment. He had a great opportunity to make real changes in the way our government operates but instead he chose to create new entitlements and extend the federal governemnt's control of public education, both anethema to conservatives. He fought the war on terror but NEVER made the case to the American people...he never figured out what the bully pulpit was all about and how to use it. He allowed himself and the office of the presidency to be degraded and disrepected by punks like David Gregory with complete impunity.

George W. Bush has presided over the best economy in decades. He guided the country through a recession with a steady hand following 911 and he fought the War on Terror...toppled 2 terror supporting regimes and has practically stabilized the most unstable area in the world. BUT...most Americans think we lost the war in Iraq...we've spent 8 years in the worst economy ever and Geoge Bush and Dick Cheney are raising gas prices to line their own pockets. WHY??? Becauseee he has never bothered to fight hard enough to make his points prevail with the American public. He never made his case directly to the people. It's a shame.

I’m not going to read this thread because I’ve had my fill of the Bush bashers here on FR. I just want to say that I adore him. I’m so glad he is the president. And if he was running again, I would vote for him in a heartbeat. God Bless W!

I probably wouldn't rate him this high but I think he deserves more credit than he gets. Frankly, I'm getting sick of the whiners on this website that remind me of blacks, who perpetually want to be victims.

We have a job to do and we need to stop whining and do it.

I don’t hate him.

I loathe him.

And if you don’t like what I have said, don’t ask in the first place.

I don't want to imagine it. It's hideous.

It's why I finally decided to vote for McCain. The thought of Obama or Hillary as president is simply unacceptable.

No. I don’t agree with everything he has done but I don’t hate him.

There has been no individual in recorded that has undergone the concentrated, continous and vicious attacks from the biggest liars that the universe has ever known for 7 years.Namely the main stream media and the Democrat Party. Both are made the waste of the cesspool of humanity.

John Mc Cain, the members of the main stream media and the Democrat Party would not make the head of a pimple on President Bush’s ass, in my opinion.

“He’s kept us safe since 911”

While Americans are killed every single day since 9/11 because of drug and gang related crimes from those that walk across our borders and he had the perfect opportunity after 9/11 to start defending that border from the drugs and gang cartels coming through.

National security is about more than Iraq. Iraq is one country among many where terrorists are that want to kill Americans. Equally important in our national security strategy is how we defend our borders and what we do internally.

It defies logic to believe that even as good of a job as our military is doing, that they have been able to keep every terrorist out there in the world from coming here. That in Iraq and Afghanistan, they have been able to kill or detain every terrorists before they can come through our borders. Which leads to the logical conclusion that they are here. Why they haven’t attacked again I do not know. Maybe because they do not want to give up the intel about their networks until they can pull off something big enough to make it worth it. When it does happen again, I hope some kind of jolt of reality hits a few people because right now, some of you are deluding yourselves.

Does Everyone Hate President Bush?

In a word, no.

Arrogant, evil, blood sucking demoncrats do. Moronic, don't know up from down simpletons do. Spiteful, self loathing terrorists do. Know it all, high horse riders do.

I hate to have to agree with you. GWB is a remarkable person, perhaps too genteel for his own good when it comes to defending himself and his Administration. Yet, he and his Administration allowed others to define them and to degrade their successes. I hope history gets the facts recailbrated.

I hoped George Bush would run for the Presidency way before said he was.
I watched him take charge of the country during it's darkest moments with courage and strength
I happily voted for him in both elections, because I wanted him for my President.

I will miss President Bush & the First Lady very much.
They brought some class back to the White House.

I love the man and will get the opportunity to tell him so personally on Thursday!

Would you tell him that Freeper 3catsanadog loves him too!

As far as I'm concerned, he did the best he could considering that the Democrats and news media and liberals all over the world condemned him each and every day starting on November 8, 2000.

To me, President Bush is the man standing on top of the pile of rubble in New York with the fireman and the bullhorn and letting the people who brought down those buildings know they were going to hear from us soon!

If Gore had been President, they'd still be holding blah blah blah meetings about what to do about terrorists.
