If you’ve ever tended bar or waited on tables, you’d know that it’s a real bummer to see a table of color in your area. I’m speaking from the 80’s, but I’m sure someone will tell me just what the dealygig on that is today.

I need a little reminding here. From my memory, President Bush and especially the Cheneys give very heavily to charity and have never had scathing articles about their amount of given written.
They are both poster childs for affirmative action and what it creates. People who have no respect for the wonderful things they have because the believe they are entitled to it all anyway. When everything is handed to you, regardless of the work you do, you tend to not feel obligated to pay it forward.
Considering that they reportedly gave 20k to Wright’s church, and if this is the ONLY charity they gave to,
their income would be $2mil, right?

I agree with you there ... but I do take offense at his faux compassion for all the poor and hurting in our country.

I took a cursory look at his tax returns for the last two years and was startled to see that he wasn’t hit with the Alternative Minimum Tax even though he made $1,000,000 a year... I’ve been hit with it the last 4 years, and I make SUBSTANTIALLY less than that.
Any good FReeper accountants want to take a shot at explaining that?
Oh, COME ON, people, how could you not understand? Liberal politicians are notoriously skimpy with charitable donations not because they a cheap, hypocritical, power-hungry liars, but because they give to the poor in OTHER ways...like voting for tax increases, voting for huge spending programs for the poor, etc. Geez, doesn’t anyone GET it - these people are so smart, so purely motivated, that we simply CANNOT understand everything they really do for the people of this country.

I think the point Princess Leah is making is that most liberals give less than the average conservative. There have been many articles over the years proving that Conservatives are just more generous.
