We’ve known about the fraud and phony votes for decades thanks to people such as yourself. How many elections have actually been recorded for one party and then changed to the other party once fraud was proven?
None that I know of.

Here in Texas the most important post is County Tax Assessor Collector. In my county we elected a Republican and he removed over 150,000 dead people and felons from the rolls.
What type of “absentee ballot fraud” are you referring to? In my post, my emphasis was on identifying phantom voters and getting them off the rolls.

When the election tally is announced its usually too late. Hence, my emphasis on actions we can take to PREVENT vote fraud. For example, in the 2000 election I prevented over 100 fraudulent votes out of 850 cast at the precinct where I worked. That’s a significant percentage.
One of the poll workers was making different marks on the voter lists as she marked those that were given a ballot.
Michigan has no party registrations anymore but they used to.
Some voters were marked with a Hi-lighter all the way across the name and some only half.
I questioned why my name was marked different that several above it and she turned rather pale and said she likes to mark some different.
I then noticed that some that were longtime voters still had the “D” or “R” next to the names and only the “R” had the half mark. The “D” or no letter had the full mark.
I don't know what the reason for sorting out was but it might have been a way to know which ballots to change later?
I could design a device that had the advantages of both without much trouble. Allow the voter to use a touch-screen to register the vote, then print it out and have the voter confirm its veracity then drop it in a secured ballot box. When the voter is finished voting, record the vote locally AND to a remote site which would independently tally the result. Produces both an electronic and a paper record, which would greatly increase the barrier to forgery and fraud.
If the numbers don’t add up from all the different places where it is recorded, immediately secure all physical and electronic evidence and conduct a thorough probe of the actions of all individuals involved.
Increase sentencing to a felony with a minimum of 10 years with no parole for anyone convicted of willful alteration of the results of the vote.
There are several types of absentee fraud. People registered in more than one state, who vote absentee in one, in person in the other. People who register people in nursing homes, then request absentee ballots for them. Even your phantom voters are voting absentee. Since you had such good suggestions for dealing with phantom voters, I was wondering if you had any thoughts about how to curb illegal absentee voting.
Any time they start sweating its usually because some kind of scam is going down. For example, here in Texas it is illegal for the precinct workers to let anyone know who has voted and who has not. However, democrat workers often call party workers to let them know who has not voted so that they can send a van to pick the voter up and get them to the polls. Being involved in the process will allow you to understand how fraud can be perpetrated, so once again, get involved.
A good private eye would have no trouble determining if a voter owns homes in more than one state. It may require Freepers in more than one state to look at the Voter Rolls to determine if the perp is double-registered. Here in Texas we often catch people registered multiple times at relatives’ homes, rental properties, businesses, etc. Just remember that you can have a major impact by exposing such fraud, shining a spotlight on it, and getting the perps off the Voter Rolls.
They did that in New Orleans when Blanco was trailing at the polls. They seemed competent at getting buses out and about (loaded with free food, drinks and dixie land jazz) when their power was at stake.
Getting the buses out during Katrina wasn't so important. The dead still vote Democrat.

I can program this (and I haven’t written a real application in 15 years or so) in a short time, and there is absouutely no way you can catch me.

I am a programmer too. There’s no way you can program past the requirement I put in that the voter inspect his own physical ballot and drop it in a box, and the later check of the physical record results against the electronic results. You would need the full cooperation of most if not all of the election personnel on site, in every district where fraud was to occur.
Even then, you’d have to be one hell of a programmer to do it in a way that wasn’t able to be detected by post facto by pattern analysis.

Maryland is such a socialist state the we do not even HAVE a Secretary of State. We have a totally vetoproof dem legislature, a dem/socialist/crook governor who will not appoint anyone to the SecyState position. Someone is “acting” which means he has no autonomy at all!
Our head of the State Board of Elections is a partisan Democrat whose replacement was refused by our courts, when we briefly had a Republican governor. She has essentially a job for life.
We have a law that makes it very difficult to remove a name from the rolls, even if a family member declares that they are dead, never mind that the name is a phantom.
I have worked as a Chief Judge in every election since 2000 and highly recommend it as a civic duty.
To prevent vote fraud AND get rid of the current campaign circus that drives most rational and competent people away from even running for office, we need to eliminate the direct popular vote concept. People should vote for a VERY local representative, for a district of a few square blocks max (population 2-300 adults max). That way they’d be voting for someone they can actually get first hand information about, and the candidate can have intelligent, direct discussions with small groups of voters and individual voters. Then have those elected representatives vote for a town/county officials and state legislators/senators. Have state legislators and senators vote for Governor, and for national House of Representatives and Senators. Have Representatives, and with population-based votes, Governors and Senators, elect the President and Vice President.
Nobody would be campaigning to huge masses via soundbites and stupid TV ads (much less spending huge amounts of time and energy raising money to run that sort of campaign). Nobody would be voting for anyone they hadn’t met and talked to in person. At the grass-roots level, nobody would be voting for someone without being able to ascertain what that person is really all about, because they could not only talk to the candidate directly, but also to other people in the immediate area who have worked with candidate, lived next door to the candidate, have kids who go to school with the candidate’s kids, etc. At the higher levels, everyone with a vote could at least have direct conversations with the candidate, and among each other.
