A senior Church of Scotland minister has questioned the wisdom of spending large amounts of money keeping older people alive. The Reverend Maxwell Craig, 76, feels funding could be better spent helping the young stay out of trouble.

What about TONY BENNETT? Can people buy their way out? If you can’t pay, you’re a goner?
I want to be clear, I believe it should be a family decision, but with that comes some very touchy issues....any way you look at it, its going to be a mess. That we can agree on...correct?
Hildy you are correct about the government not being involved and the responsibility being upon the family, and that $31,000 is a lot of money to most people.
any way you look at it, its going to be a mess. That we can agree on...correct?
Absolutely!!!!
What it seems we have is people on a conservative forum being upset when the realities of life (conservatism) come into conflict with our feeeeelings (liberalism).
The reality is bad things happen all the time. That cannot be avoided. But there are people out there who expect a magic wand to remove all hurt and tribulation from everyone, and we all live in a wonderful Utopia (these people are called liberals). They don't live in the REAL world.
People throw terms like government and society around like the words are magic. Government can't give you anything they haven't taken away from you (or someone else) in the first place. Government is nothing more than the figurehead for society. Society is nothing more than you, me, wagglebee, and everybody else.
Something bad happening in my family is MY RESPONSIBILITY. If I expect government/society to rescue me, I'm claiming a right or entitlement I haven't earned and shirking my responsibility. (Again liberal mindset). I'm expecting someone else to be responsible for my life. What right or entitlement or claim, do I have on someone else's life or labor? Also what entitlement or claim do they have upon me?
Life can be harsh. Sometimes its sweet. Neither is guaranteed or warranted.
Pick your poison, Hildy. Mass killings would end up costing more than keeping people healthy. It's called preventative medicine.

Im a “she” and go shop till you drop. :-)
Sure, can’t wait to start shopping, just freepmail me those credit card numbers, and remember, no complaining about the bills. :-)
We will have the same situation here soon.
Sad thing is, the young have learned to hate life from their elders.
Nah, this generation coming up is hugely pro-life. Ultrasound is doing the enemy in.
Depends.
My wife teaches in a large High School. Lets just say not every one cares.
Okay then, in a place like the UK with socialized medicine, would you then advocate denying medical care and/or involuntary euthanasia for anyone who is not paying taxes? Should a person be “cut off” once the money they have contributed to the socialized medicine is exhausted?
I would happily return my inheritance to have my Dad back, but I can see not everyone feels the same about their parents. Some would rather have the money, than spend it on the parents who earned it. So sad.
> Honestly, $31,000 a year is alot of money to most people.
Honestly, Terri Schiavo had a lot more in her trust fund than that and you still wanted her dead.
A lot of the deathbots who want to kill Lauren have asked who is going to pay for it, since neither parent has brought up cost, we can only surmise that this is not an issue.
And some would prefer to murder their spouses rather than spend the money that the court awarded for rehabilitation.
DIRECT HIT!
Can we get through a discussion without mentioning her name? THIS ISN’T ABOUT TERRI SCHIAVO. That was a complicated case and many people had many different opinions. But again, this isn’t about her. If you have nothing else to offer, please don’t respond.
I've talked to a lot of young people who are acutely aware how much of their generation has been slaughtered in abortuaries.
Remember Rush’s Undeniable Truth of Life (well one of them)...Our nation’s seasoned citizens is the most valuable yet untapped resources our young people have.
