U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler says he believes Republican presidential candidate John McCain blocked his immigration bill from getting a vote on the U.S. House floor. McCain's staff denies it.
The Waynesville Democrat spoke to the Rotary Club of Hendersonville on Tuesday. He said the Republican leadership tried to bring the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act to the House floor. They used a provision of House rules called a discharge petition, in which a simple majority can bring to the floor a bill that is stuck in committee.

McCain just won't give up on crushing the core of the Republican Party, its conservative base. The arrogance of McCain and his campaign flunkies defies rational explanations. These McCainiac zealots would be right at home in the Middle East.

Perhaps it’s time for the “conservative Democrat” Shuler to switch parties?
I remember he voted his party line many times in the last year.

I don’t think Suler is telling the truth at all. One is in the house the other in the Senate? I think his party wouldn’t allow a vote.

He is a typical LIAR and a Dem. The story is a lie . The Politico already outed this phony story. He is trying to cover for the fact only 10 % of the Dems killed the bill with only 10% supporting it. Read it for yourself.
Interesting how many McCain haters fall for any scam peddled by the Dems or the Obama media .

Shuler said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership were not pleased with his attempts to get the bill to the House floor.
“They said (the bill) was not the proper thing for our caucus,” Shuler said.
But he said the SAVE Act is “not about Democrats. Not about Republicans. It’s about what is best for America.”

Shuler comes from good stock. To me, he is more in line as Zell Miller is as a democrat. One of the good ones.
I also enjoyed watching him quarterback my Tennessee Vols in the 90’s.

Yeah I've noticed that McCain's minions are now trying to claim that crossover voters from Clinton or Obama are the same as the Reagan democrats. The simple fact is that Reagan democrats were conservatives, the Clintbama voters are socialists and marxists who have found something to like in McCain.
