One in 10 voters believes Barack Obama is Muslim, a mistaken impression that lingers across party lines, a poll showed.
Fourteen percent of Republicans, 10 percent of Democrats and 8 percent of independents mistakenly think he is Muslim, according to a survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Just over half of each group correctly identified him as Christian, while about a third said they don't know his religion.
The false rumor that the Democratic presidential candidate and Illinois senator is Muslim has been fanned on the Internet and conservative talk radio.
It has persisted despite the recent controversy over divisive remarks by his longtime pastor at the Trinity United Church of Christ, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Those saying they have heard a lot about Wright's comments are about as likely as others to say they think Obama is Muslim, the poll showed.
Conservatives, less educated voters and white evangelical Protestants are likelier to believe Obama is Muslim, as are people from the South, the Midwest and rural areas, the poll showed. Nearly a quarter of white Democrats with unfavorable views of Obama say he is Muslim though overall, blacks are about as likely as whites to hold the misconception.

What’s to “believe”? He absolutely IS a muslim. By which I mean that since he was initially a muslim, other muslims today consider him one, and as Obomba has joined a Church, is even worse than an infidel, as an apostate.
If you believe this poll, 6 1/2 years after 9/11, 90% of the nation is in such denial-— that it’s willing to elect a President who was brought up Muslim & whose middle name is Hussein.

I don’t believe he’s a Muslim, and I dislike it when people focus on that as a reason for disliking him.
There are hundreds of valid, solid, documented reasons to distrust him on very real, very important policy issues, one of which is his determined stance on softening our stance against militant Islamic regimes and organizations. But that latter is only because he’s a flaming liberal, socialist moron who thinks that appearing reasonable is sufficient for inducing rational behavior in those who absolutely hate us and who promote hatred against us as a method of controlling their own countries, people, or organizations. He comes from the same school of international policy thought that the Clintons come from, that is grounded in the idea that a single global superpower in the form of the United States, is the greatest danger to world peace and stability, and that we must balance world power, even if it means having the U.S. artificially enable its enemies while simultaneously crippling ourselves in order to level the playing field.
Kinda makes me think of a football game where the better team not only gives the other team the home field advantage, but also let’s the other time have a few additional players on the field, and to top it all of, the better team then blindfolds their quarterback... Just to make things even.

Wright (a black militant preacher) and his church to give him street creds with the black community (since he is a mulatto, 1/2 white, not a true black)-—without someone boosting his resume to the Black voters in Illinois he would never have gotten elected to a political dogcatcher job.

It is very hard to tell no dems, 1 in 10 may believe him to be a Muslim, that does not mean that some percentage will not vote for him based on that.
Add in the youth vote, and unknown Republican and Conservative intensity, and no one can say for certain one way or another.
