Obama’s ‘baby’ comment draws fire from conservatives By Sam Youngman Posted: 03/31/08 05:35 PM [ET] Sen. Barack Obama’s (Ill.) campaign on Monday sought to clarify remarks the Democratic front-runner made on teen pregnancies that had drawn criticism from conservatives.
Speaking about sex education at an event in Pennsylvania Saturday, Obama said, according to the Christian Broadcasting Network, that he will educate his young daughters but “if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.”
Conservative talker Sean Hannity mentioned the quotes on his radio show Monday, and several conservative blogs have reacted harshly to the statement.
Tommy Vietor, an Obama spokesman, sought to clarify the senator’s comments in an e-mail to The Hill Monday afternoon.
"What Sen. Obama said and what he believes is clear — children are ‘miracles,’ but we have a problem when so many children are having children,” Vietor said. “As Sen. Obama said on Saturday — and on many other occasions — parents have a responsibility to teach their children about values and morals to help make sure they are not treating sex casually.

Let me translate: “I am a liberal that will teach my daughter all about screwing because I need to be her pal. I will make sure I do not instill any morals in them because that is judgmental. And after I turn my daughters into sluts (who use condoms some times), I want to make sure they can kill their unborn babies because a damn kid would cramp their lifestyle.”

That wasn’t clear to me. He used the word “punishment.” Punishment/miracles...don’t feel the same to me...
And the fake religousity is off-target. Unless he’s saying Obama doesn’t know how children are made. The better word would be “blessings”

what is initially viewed as an insurmountable burden can become a life-building field test of her own morality, sense of responsibility, perseverance, and non-selfish love
it is also a field test of those same attributes from her family and closest friends

What can one expect from a society that defines, "BREAKING THE LAW" as a 'mistake', a blatant conscious premeditated LIE as 'misspeaking' and a 20 year, loving relationship with a RACIST American hater as an 'accident' of friendship!
Actually, I think with Obama, it is just the opposite - the punishment is now the gift from God (at least if I understand his convoluted origins properly)

So, if Obama thinks babies are 'miracles' then why has he taken such pains to support partial birth abortion and to oppose intervention to save the lives of abortion survivors?
