This also would be a good fix of sanity for the Libertarians they’ve been missing for many years.

Unfortunately, we live in interesting times. Why do we lose the Bob Barrs . . . Newt Gingriches . . . Dick Armeys from Congress to which they are perfectly suited and incredibly valuable to their country . . . ?
And why do they come back to haunt the Presidential campaigns?

Why isn’t Ru Paul running for that nomination?

....or, Libertarians could continue their slide off the deep end and choose
Mike Gravel who also wants to run on the Libertarian ticket.

After the 1988 scandal, I am sure the Libertarians want nothing from him.

Barr wouldn’’t even get a dead cat bounce.
He’s had a lot of positions working for the ACLU that I suspect would make him highly unpopular.

I don’t know what the heck has happened to Bob Barr. He used to be the Congressman for the district adjacent to mine, but then he left Congress...and made an unholy alliance with the ACLU. He doesn’t seem to understand the WOT. Those two things are dealbreakers, as far as I’m concerned.

I suspect Ron Paul’s supporters would be suspect to go along with this. Of course there was never a chance of their supporting the Republican candidate.

if Bob Barr, the former Republican who joined the Libertarian Party two years ago, wins his adopted party's presidential nomination. Bob Barr would be very good. Before it became obvious that being a conservative is very different than being a Republican, I used to think of myself as a Republican with a libertarian bent.
Bob Barr would nicely fit both my conservative and libertarian leanings.

And why do they come back to haunt the Presidential campaigns?
It wouldn't have anything to do with John McCain wanting to turn over American sovereignty to Mexico, would it now?
It wouldn't have anything to do with John McCain getting an F- from Gun Owners of America, would it?
It wouldn't have anything to do with John McCain voting for Ruth Bader Ginsberg would it?
It wouldn't have anything to do with John McCain voting against the Bush tax cuts, would it?
It wouldn't have something to do with John McCain calling Reverend Falwell an "agent of intolerance" would it?
Nah, it's probably just the fact that this Naval Academy classroom dunce actually believes in Al Gore's global warming and would be much more effective at moving the left's agenda forward than Barack Obama. Yeah, that's it.

It’s ok, McCain doesn’t need the right anyway, he’s got moderates!

There appears to be literally nobody left in the republican party that are republicans.. What a concept.. A republican party with no republicans..
Actually since all democrats are in reality socialists there are no democrats left in the democrat party EITHER...
YET, the socialist party is sooo covert that nobody even knows it exists..

If you can’t hold your congressional seat you ought not be running for President as a general matter and should not be a spoiler as a specific matter in this case.

I suspect Ron Paul's supporters would be suspect to go along with this. I just did a little trolling, a few are, but most are upset, still thinking Paul is going to win through their delegate stacking, or are calling Barr a 'neocon' (they pretty much call everyone who isn't named Paul that..)

Why not just write yourself in?
Who else could possibly fit your own “conservative and libertarian leanings” as closely as yourself?
Why not?
You have just as much chance of actually winning the election as Bob Barr.
Even better, you can save the time and gasoline it would take to drive to polls.
You can vote for yourself right here on FReeRepublic.
You can vote for yourself as many times as you want, and vote a few extra times for Bob Barr, too.
The effect on the outcome of the election will be exactly the same!

Oh, goody. Now McCain and all the liberal Republicans will have somebody to blame besides conservatives for the impending Republican bloodbath. He can give the Libertarians hell too. LOL!
