Yep, it may win in November because the Dem nominee is particulary repugnant this time around, but it won’t work in the long run. The Dems will offer leftism and goodies, while the Pubbies offer leftism only. Game, set and match to the Dems.

Enough disaffected conservatives WILL seek other parties in large enough numbers to cause the Pubbies to be a permanent minority, if the Pubbies don’t get their heads straight and remember what wins elections.

As for your statement that the Republicans feel that libertarians OWE them their votes, you’re dead on, and I’ve also been quite surprised at how many people on this forum believe that conservatives OWE their vote to the Pubbies. My vote is my own. I will make my own judgement about what is in the long term best interest of the country, not any particular party, and I will act accordingly. No party has a claim to my or anyone else’s vote, and the arrogance to think otherwise is appalling. The “Where ya gonna go?” attitude will be the death knell of the Republican Party.

Barr is angry at the GOP for not helping him when the Clintons came after him. Barr is right to be angry but the country is more important than his anger.

I did not say that I want people to stay home rather than vote at all.

I did suggest that if you are going to waste your vote on a third party candidate who has no chance of winning, you might as well not cast that vote. The outcome will be the same.

I will also do what I can to encourage people who will not vote for McCain to vote for Conservative Congressional and Senate candidates.

I will also do what I can to encourage people to vote for McCain to defeat Barack Obama who is the most liberal senator bar none.

Huh? The LP would nominate Paul without hesitation if he asked for it. Barr himself went on record supporting Paul’s GOP campaign well after the “scandal.” Speaking about scandals about McCain and that the gook comment, big beer (remember that) and the Keating Five?

McCain is willing to bomb Muslim Supremacists.

McCain is willing to bomb everyone in sight including Christian Serbs.

“McCain is willing to bomb everyone in sight”

We can dream, can’t we?

Bob Barr loves jihadists, which means no deal for anyone who loves America.

Money being embezzled directly from from LP campaign funds I'm sure would cause concern from party bosses, even twenty years later. You notice that RP, Lewellen Rockwell, and Burt Blumert all left the party after that and have not gone back. Nadia Hayes always proclaimed she was innocent and the $14k she was convicted on was only about 10% of what was missing. The LP kicked a lot more people out of the party after that (such as Justin Raimondo and Eric Garris who have worked for Paul ever since.)... of course, we haven't even gone into how Camino Coins Gold was funded...

Well....if it pleases you to believe that, knock yourself out....but Paul would get the LP nomination in a landslide if he wanted it. This is especially true after Paul won a smashing 70 percent in his House primary. Out of curiousity: were you one of those who thought Peden would beat Paul?

You can check my post history. I rooted for, helped, and donated to Chris but I also admitted on many occasion it was an uphill battle against someone with a lot of money and national exposure. Considering that Chris did better against Paul (getting 30% of the vote) than Paul has done in his Presidential run (averaging about 5%), I would say it was a valiant effort.

Your post 19 seemed to indicate that. Sorry if I misunderstood through the sarcasm.

You are correct to point out that everyone should make sure they get to the polls and vote for all Conservative Senators and Congress-critters who are running in 2008.

My senator who is up for reelection and the congress-critter from my district are conservative Republicans who will be reelected in 2008. I don’t even think they have much opposition.

I don’t think anybody is going to hurt McCain’s bid. It is already doomed - He’s is consitutionally ineligible.

McCain is a naturalized citizen, not a natural born citizen.

If the RNC dosen’t get this cleared before the convention, the ACLU and the Dems will after the convention.

I don’t recall, exactly, but I think the redistricting gave him the option of running in a different district which probably would have worked out better for him. For some reason, he chose to run against Linder, instead. I never understood why he did that.
