Ping!
I admire the Czech Republic. Two years ago, I was in Prague, and, one night, landed right in the middle of a rally for free Cuba. It was huge, noisy, and gratifying to see. The Czechs suffered for fifty years under totalitarianism - first Nazism, and then Communism. They have shown a willingness to stand up for those still suffering under tyranny, even more than we have.
The U.S. made a huge mistake when we turned our backs on Taiwan and recognized mainland china as the true china.
Taiwan is a democracy that like Israel has nearly always stood by the U.S. as a friend.
This chi-com take over of Tibet against the wishes of its people is abhorent.
At Kent State our troops opened fire 40 years ago and our country showed its revulsion. The chi-coms kill hundreds and the world kissed the ass of the chi-coms.
Peng Bin is a spokesperson for the Chinese government at the Chinese embassy in Prague. He insists that the Olympics are not the correct venue for the airing of political grievances:
The Chinese do a lot of insisting, usually at the point of a gun or with the threat of nuking a city.
We regard the Olympic Games as a good opportunity and a platform for the people from all the countries of the world to come together to strengthen communication, to exchange views and develop a mutual understanding and friendship, this is what we think.
Darned right it is, Skippy. And the world is using it to communicate to you what we think of you and why you're not worthy of being friends with. We understand you very well.
Add this to the fact that the Chehk Republic enthusiastically allowed the US to place a NMD installation on it’s soil, things are looking good for them.
