McCain Lags In Campaign Fundraising ("Way behind" 'Rats in $$$; "weak support in financial sector")

TEXT OF STORY
Doug Krizner:
Senator John McCain will be in Memphis today for a fundraiser. The Republican presidential candidate has been holding these events all around the country. He has to -- he's way behind his opponents in the money race, as Jeremy Hobson reports.
Jeremy Hobson: The Obama campaign reports it raised more than $40 million in March. Hillary Clinton says she raised about half that. But that's still likely to beat John McCain, who has brought in just one-sixth of Clinton and Obama's combined total since the beginning of the campaign.
Anthony Corrado at Colby College says part of the reason for the shortfall is McCain's weak support in the financial sector, which so far has been the biggest source of campaign donations.
Anthony Corrado: He has had clashes with the business community. That has meant that he hasn't done as well raising money from the traditional Republican business and corporate interests.

Hence the wisdom of not betraying the base. Amnesty and the backstabbing Gang of 14 come to mind when I think about financially supporting him.
—> Sure, I will reluctantly vote for him in November.
But I’m not sending my money to McCain.

I am tempted to agree with you. I’ll vote for him but am still too angered to send him money. The question that arises though is once elected, will he feel any loyalty to the base that refused to send him a dime? Are we just hurting ourselves in the long run?

Well isn’t lord McCain going to make tax payers match his funds raising? Of course he has a big ‘beer’ slush fund if all else fails...

More proof McCain should have never been the nominee. A person that extends his middle finger to his base has to expect they are not going to be donating any cash.
I guess the moderates, indys, and democraps are not ponying up the cash for their candidate.
Hehehe!

The question that arises though is once elected, will he feel any loyalty to the base that refused to send him a dime? Are we just hurting ourselves in the long run? He does not have any loyalty to the Conservative base now, so what makes you think he would have any loyalty to it after he wins the Presidency?

This doesn’t surprise me, most of McCain’s primary supporters are sending their money to Obama or Hillary.

If he didn’t show any loyalty when he wanted your money, what makes you think he would treat you any differently if he doesn’t get it.
I think McCain believes he doesn’t have to court the conservative vote. As many McCain defenders on this board demonstrate, he can stab conservatives in the back and still count on their vote come election day simply because he has an (R) beside his name.

The financial sector must really like the 60% tax rates Obama is promising.

Well... well... well... I guess Conservatives boycotting the LIBERAL rnc and their secret plan (loaded primaries) to screw us has caused our ineffective financial boycott to be effective. Not a dime from me for the National Party... let the rich Country Clubbers from Liberal North East dig deep for this one. As usual... they do nothing but run their mouths and the party into the ground.

I guess that is what happens when the Democrats choose the Republican candidate.
Operation Chaos started long before Rush jumped on the bandwagon and has done more damage to the Republicans than the Democrats. This article is proof.
