Campaigning in Puerto Rico for His Wife, Bill Clinton Floods the Island With Promises

(English-language translation)

During his quest for island Democrats to "vote for Hillary Clinton", former President Bill Clinton mingled last night with residents of a public housing project, shared with businessmen in a Condado hotel, and raised funds for his wife's campaign.

Upon arriving by private jet to Luis Muñoz Marín Airport, Clinton visited Elizabeth Miller, the mother of a girl with cerebral palsy, at the Luis Llorens Torres housing project.

Shortly afterwards, some women practically threw themselves at the former President while en route to the project's Monserrate "Kike" Ríos basketball court.

At the court, Clinton took only 4 1/2 minutes to explain to some 500 residents why his wife should return to the White House, not as First Lady, but as President of the United States.

He was introduced by Puerto Rican Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, who asked attendees to be quiet so they could listen to their visitor, according published reports in the [Puerto Rican newspaper] El Nuevo Día.

Also present on the stand were Puerto Rico Democratic Party Chairman Roberto Prats, Senate President Kenneth McClintock, former Governor Carlos Romero Barceló, attorney José Alfredo Hernández Mayoral, Ricky Rosselló, and legislator Jorge Colberg.

Clinton made promises concerning health, job creation, and energy costs. "Hillary will provide everyone in Puerto Rico a health plan," said Clinton, who spoke in English and drew applause from the crowd. "And she will also eliminate caps on Medicaid funds," he added.

"But what's most important," he pointed out, "is that she has a plan to bring more jobs to Puerto Rico and give work to people here. She is going to create opportunities for the future."

According to Clinton, his wife will reduce energy costs to create jobs and savings. "Vote for Hillary for President and she will do that," he said.

Pureto Rico is like the Guliani firewall of Florida. The clinton’s hope she wins big there which allows her to capture the overall popular vote. Won't happen. But it'll fun to watch Bill promise more pardons for terrorists.

Hillary promises lower fuel costs and health care. XXX-42 promises his eternal love, a call the next day and that he isn’t contagious.

Why didn’t Willie do any of this during his 8 years in office?

Everywhere the big creep precedes Hillary, he poisons the water and she ends up losing.

I love it.

I think you nailed that one. Just as she relied on the Mexican vote in Texas.

I remember back in 1980 when Ted Kennedy visited a housing project in Puerto Rico during his bid to win the Democratic presidential nomination against Jimmy Carter.

As with Clinton, what's with these rich white Democrats visiting caseríos in the island? They must feel like kings checking on the peasants.

"....his 'playpen' on Pennsylvania Avenue..."

Also known to Bill as "The Playboy Mansion on the Beltway".

That surprises me. There is a big “divide” between people of Hispanic cultures and American Blacks. Also, I don’t think anyone from the Obama camp has been to PR.

But, in this election cycle; who the heck knows.
