BATON ROUGE, La. Castration could be a sentencing option for some sex offenders in Louisiana under a bill approved by a state Senate judiciary committee.

Oh boy/girl wait till the ACLU gets this one.
Castration and then execution. Castration without any pain killer.
Completely useless. Execution will work!
The one difficulty with executing sex offenders is that it would create an obvious incentive for them to murder their victims.
Ideally, I’d like to kill them all - but it is something to consider.
Presumably only the male sex offenders?
You then spray them with iodine and throw them back in the pen.
Chemical castration or physical castration?
Bubba better stay away from Louisiana.
Looks like the perps will have the choice.
I was being sarcastic boy becomes girl.
I'm assuming you mean the hogs... not the berries.
Thank God for the Constitution.
Castrate on the first offense, execute on the second?
It works for me. It should also be administered to all judges who turn the offenders loose on the streets to repeat crimes.
Yes, the hogs. But it would work for the perves too.
Yank their berries off and throw them back in the “Pen”.
“Ideally, Id like to kill them all - but it is something to consider.”
Well Sir, I know you’re not a liberal, because liberals NEVER consider the possible unintended consequences. :-)
My vote is for chemical castration.
Hydrochloric acid sounds like the appropriate chemical.
Agreed!
Thanks for ruining my lunch, BTW. I was having some oatmeal with... blueberries.
Ouch! “Hey they’re SMOKING!!!!”
By any standard, this would be cruel and unusual.
Upon hearing the news, Bill Clinton screamed and then fainted.
“You then spray them with iodine and throw them back in the pen.”
Clinton would have put some ice on it first. I bet those hogs really love you.
Castration for sex offenders is fine by me - just start it a little higher, say, just below the chin!
Option????
I am just not so sure that castration will work, for I knew a man that was castrated because of cancer, and he could still take a shot of testostrone. He divorced his wife, and got him another one.

Dang! Bobby Jindal and now this? I’m moving to Louisiana! Get the mudbugs ready!
So, we castrate someone who turns out later to be completely innocent as some so called sex offenders have been proved recently with DNA results. We don’t need to mutilate people. Killing them for raping AND killing, yes, castration, no. Why not just bring back the Iron Maiden and the Rack also? I believe in the death penalty, I don’t believe in mutilation of anyone, even low life rapists.
I know. I was trying to make a slightly sarcastic but serious comment though.
What about the equal protection clause of the Constitution? How would one say that a punishment that can only be carried out on males be Constitutional?
Execution is unconstitutional for sexual offenses.
I don't do it for the hog's enjoyment or mine. It makes them grow faster. I could care less the hog's opinion on the matter, anymore than I would care about the perverts opinion.
The great state of Oklahoma tried something similar many years ago, and the SCOTUS said “No”.
Well, the article says this would be for second time offenders, so I doubt your scenario would play out.
yes...same thought, if it has a penis, then it is at fault...
it will never happen even in that state.
Chemical castration doesn’t work 100% of the time. I can’t find an article on it but I seem to remember a sex offender who was released still receiving the shots and raped a boy.
I didn’t know the SCOTUS ruled on the scrotum.
“T’was the night of the King’s castration, all the counts, viscounts, and no-accounts were camel-dunging around in the courtyard, for horse***t was then unknown....”
Anyway, all I’ll say is there are some crimes for which castration should be ONLY the beginning of retribution.
The reason I say that is from having read a number of stories where wacko psychologists have put false memories in people's minds, making them think they were molested when they actually hadn't been. Children's minds can be manipulated by some shrinks.
Personally, I'd rather see chemical castration be an option that the accused could agree to in order to see less jail time -- maybe 20 years or 5 years and castration. This way, if someone really was innocent, they wouldn't be physically ruined. Of course, their time in prison would have been horrific, but maybe this would have been better than having been castrated.
It just worries me because there is a large number of false rape reports made by women, and I can imagine some women accusing men of molestation to win custody.
Or, imagine a crazy woman telling you that if you break up with her she'll say you've been molesting her daughter. Things like that happen in the real world.
I should have read the article. It’s for the second offense, so that would probably limit the abuse of it. Bring it on...
“execution is unconstitutional for sex offenders”
Ok.....Father duct tapes 5 yr old son to kitchen chair, thus forcing him to watch as his father brutally rapes his mother and infant sister. Father serves 5 yrs....out on parole...son....still serving time ...has lived in a behavioral health facility for boys since the age of 11..unable to cope in society...imagine that! True story..he’s one of my clients. Is this justice?
I am so very tired of of everyone worrying about the rights of the child molesters!! Did these monsters ever once consider the rights of their victims? They’re sentenced for a few years, get a little councilling and then are back on the streets to do it again & again...meanwhile the victims are sentenced to life.
I say get rid of these perverts!!!
That's a sentencing problem. However, until the Supreme Court decides to revisit the issue, the fact remains that execution is unconstitutional for the crime of rape.
By the way, when you say that he's your "client," what kind of client do you mean?
I work at a Behavioral Health unit for teenage boys
