From the account in Carnegie Mellon's paper, the Tartan, of a Michelle Obama event in Pittsburgh: While the crowd was indeed diverse, some students at the event questioned the practices of Mrs. Obama’s event coordinators, who handpicked the crowd sitting behind Mrs. Obama. The Tartan’s correspondents observed one event coordinator say to another, “Get me more white people, we need more white people.” To an Asian girl sitting in the back row, one coordinator said, “We’re moving you, sorry. It’s going to look so pretty, though.”
“I didn’t know they would say, ‘We need a white person here,’ ” said attendee and senior psychology major Shayna Watson, who sat in the crowd behind Mrs. Obama. “I understood they would want a show of diversity, but to pick up people and to reseat them, I didn’t know it would be so outright.” I'm not sure there's any real reason for outrage here; every campaign, at least implicitly, includes race in the staging of events like this -- even a campaign whose supporters chant "race doesn't matter." But they don't usually get caught doing it this explicitly. And (if you didn't pick it up from the bowling) it does give you a sense of the community Obama's trying to reach in Pennsylvania: whitefolks.

I’m stunned at the lack of reporting on Obama campaign by the suck-up media; even if they love/admire/swoom over him, they are destroying their reputations by the “reporting”. Of course, for most of us here their reputations weren’t worth spit anyway, but even the left has got to be scratching their heads over their inability to speak “truth to power”.

As a former bowler and reasonable athlete who carried close to a 200 average, I was appalled at the lack of coordination from B Hussien. I think the wuss shot a 37. My son was 5 and he bowled better than that without gutter guards.
OsamaBama is not a tough guy...he's a physical and mental wuss. McCain isn't to some of our standards but he's a tough guy and definitely not a wuss...I'll take that if it's all we have to work with.

It’s kind of funny because he looks like a bowler. Those long lanky guys with the long arms (as I’m sure you know) get a lot of leverage and can whip that rock down the lane, making a sound like WWIII and sending the pins flying in all different directions. He should have practiced. Our President set the bar pretty high when he threw that pitch in Yankee Stadium. You think he didn’t loosen up a little before he came out? I think that’s why so many of them bounce it up there, they don’t warm up. Obama should have warmed up.

Any Republican campaign that did this, under any circumstances, would be beaten to death by the media in such a way as to make the “macaca” story seem like the most underreported story of the 2006 campaign.
It appears an elderly Hispanic woman was fired from the Obama campaign for telling to black children to stop playing in the tree like a couple of monkeys or they would get hurt. I wonder what my own mom would be guilty of since she used to say the same things to me and my brothers.
To all black people please listen, whites have had the racist conversation for over 40 years. We have come to the conclusion that hating someone for their skin color is unacceptable to us. Now there are still a couple hundred million of us in America so you will find racists among us just as you will find drug addicts, thieves, rapist and murderers which are also unacceptable to us.
When a white man finds it fascinating that Obama will not win the white male vote (of course Dems never do) yet finds it uninteresting that 95% of black men will not vote for McCain, it is still clear we have work to do. It is even clearer that you also have work to do.
We’re surprised that campaigns do this? Campaigns are just massive efforts at manipulation, and everyone should be able to figure that out. Hillary always has a number of black people on the podium with her, even though she has little support among blacks.

I figured they all do it. We are always culling through photos at church events and to find ethnically / gender/ age diverse photos to be displayed. Look at any school’s website and you will always find diverse looking photos, even if the school is predominantly, say white Irish Catholic.
I imagine the demographic staging is even worse in political campaigns, repub & dem.

When it comes down to it - every major candidate does it, regardless of party.
Articles like this are set-ups to bash conservatives. We all know that B-HO won’t get called on this, because he’s the obamassiah and he’s all multicultural and dreamy and... [barf]
However, when McCain gives a speech in the future and there’s black people standing behind him, the drive-by’s will make a huge stink about how ‘staged’ his audience is...
It’s SOP for all campaigns, but now that B-HO has been quasi-called on this, the DBM will feel justified in calling-out McCain. The only difference is it won’t be buried in the Politico, but front-and-center in the Slimes.
This makes me more than qualified than Obama for the Office of the President of the U.S.
P.S. I'm a multi-published author, lecturer, can swim, play hockey, give it a good go at hoops, even spin a basketball on a finger, and have been told that I dance a mean Boogaloo, but I'm a little bit too old to bring out a piece of linoleum and break dance. Still, not bad for a white guy, and certainly better than Michelle's ("We need more white people!") husband.
