Meanwhile McCain is only bringing in about $10-15 million, less than 20% of the what Democrats are getting. Where is all the GOP money?

Got to save some $$ for the 527s. I fear it will fall to them to do the dirty work and make sure America knows the true nature of BHO (or of the Hildebeest, should she manage to pull it out, but that's such a tired old story!). McCain will try to stay above it all.

Love the game, don’t love the playa... ;-)

Thanks for the note of agreement.

In this instance, I defend folks who think it’s still best to vote for the (R) rather than allow him to fall flat on his face.

Some folks can’t see that by voting him in, they may be contributing to the death of conservatism. While that saddens me, they are generally in agreement with us that this is a terrible situation, they just don’t know what to do to fix it.

I have argued both ends of this issue over time. I know it’s a tough one. Folks have spent decades supporting the party and it’s a tough call for them to abandon that party, even if it is no longer working to support their best interests.

It won’t help to tell them they aren’t conservatives, because in truth they are. They are troubled by what they see, just like you and I are for the most part.

You take care.

Yes, take care of your severity. You only have one you know. ;-)

Damn, I hate being incorrect, but I have to agree on that point.

Can we ALL agree on this one?

I was in my last year at Penn State (1976) when Mo came to town during his Presidential primary campaign. I went over to the Old Main lawn and joined thousands of kids to watch him give a speech, outdoors. I came away with a good feeling about the man. He was an old-fashioned Democrat and would likely be appalled at today’s pathetic incarnation of the party.

When the name Mo Udall comes up in this household, it is understood as a dirty word, exchangeable with liberal, welfarist or Karl Marx.

Same here.

I agreed with everything you have said up until now, but I do want to be fair to those who disagree on this point.

Yes we can agree on the flag and pledge too.

And no, you were not incorrect. We’re all a little frustrated right now. It goes with the territory.

I believe that in time folks will see that conservatism will be best served, or would have been best served by not supporting McCain. Let’s just hope this hits as many individuals as possible, before it is too late.

There’s no going back this time.

It is amazing what the democrat party has done over the last 35 years. It's also amazing what the republican party has done over the last forty years.

Both parties have found a way to move drastically to the left.

“or would have been best served by not supporting McCain.”

That is what angers me. I have been called so many names (lib supporting names...God forbid) and I do understand we’re all in the same sinking ship here. Besides praying for a miracle, I’m just trying to preserve what is left.

Granted...it is also my own guilt and anger for allowing this to happen. I was way too comfortable and compliant these past 8 - 10 years, as I think a lot of us were.

Unfortunately, I am at a place where I feel we must crash and burn to appreciate what we really have and can be.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. I will mention that this is why I attacked Bush mercilessly after a while because I didn’t want us kidding ourselves about what was really taking place.

IMO, that’s what got us where we are more than anything else. People refused to admit that leftist policy was leftist policy no matter who proposed or pushed it. Our side could screw up too, and did.

Denial of that made it possible for Republicans to support John McCain. They dismissed warnings because they had grown accustomed to doing that for eight years.

Those of us who took Bush to task had to be honest with ourselves. Those who defended Bush had to be honest with themselves. I think those who criticized Bush here got it just about right. I think a lot of his supporters are now having to come to grips with the reality that defending him was suicidal, when it was over liberal policies.

Well, here we are. The defense of the indefensible will end or we will have destroyed a movement nearly all of us cherished.

John McCain is indefensible. We come to grips with this, or watch with our jaws on the floor as his administration plays out, conservatism essentially destroyed.
