What Clinton wishes she could say By: John F. Harris and Jim VandeHei April 13, 2008 09:10 AM EST
Why, ask many Democrats and media commentators, wont Hillary Rodham Clinton see the long odds against her, put her own ambitions aside, and gracefully embrace Barack Obama as the inevitable Democratic nominee?
Here is why: She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obamas likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naïve Democrats just dont see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps wont tell the story.
But Hillary Clinton wont tell it, either.
A lot of coverage of the Clinton campaign supposes them to be in kitchen-sink modehurling every pot and pan, no matter the damage this might do to Obama as the likely Democratic nominee in the fall.
In fact, the Democratic race has not been especially rough by historical standards. Whats more, our conversations with Democrats who speak to the Clintons make plain that their public comments are only the palest version of what they really believe: That if Obama is the nominee a likely Democratic victory would turn to a near-certain defeat.
Far from a no-holds-barred affair, the Democratic contest has been an exercise in self-censorship.
Rip off the duct tape and here is what they would say: Obama has serious problems with Jewish voters (goodbye Florida), working class whites (goodbye Ohio) and Hispanics (goodbye, New Mexico.)
Republicans will also ruthlessly exploit openings that Clintonin the genteel confines of an intra-party contestnever could. Top targets: Obamas radioactive personal associations, his liberal ideology, his exotic life story, his coolly academic and elitist style
This view has been an article of faith among Clinton advisers for months, but it got powerful new affirmation last week with Obamas clumsy ruminations about why bitter small-town voters turn to guns and God.

Bitter = Angry
Small town = White
The leftist-press does it for her... if not in words, then by presentation.
Fixed.
Right--Hillary has always shown that she puts party ahead of Hillary, and country ahead of party.
(If you think I need a sarcasm tag, you haven't been paying attention for the last 16 years.)
Well, for once I agree with the Clintonians. That's been my preferred route to a McCain victory in November. But the Clintons don't really give a hoot about the Democratic Party, America, Jesus, God, or anything else in Heaven or Earth other than their own narcissistic selves. The disaster they truly abhor...and the one which is getting CLOSE to realization...is their descent into political oblivion..
Farewell Slick Willie & your Hildebeast. Our country WILL somehow muddle through WITHOUT YOU! Have a nice day...
“Mel Brooks as The Gov in Blazing Saddles:”Can’t you see that this man is a n”
Hurrumph, hurrumph!
Hey, I didn’t get a hurrumph! out of that guy.
“What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?”
“Hey, I didnt get a hurrumph! out of that guy.”
I was going to add that, but didn’t because I didn’t recall the exact verbage. You nailed it though. What a great movie.
Whew, we almost lost a $400 hand car.
No. Because we are bred to respond to one of us. Them folks that's different is who we hate. When we hear Hillary say, "I dont feel no ways tired. I come too far from where I started from. Can I get me a gun and a Bible to hug? I'm flat scared," well she's done got this ol' hillbilly's heart. It's just the way I was learned.
I’m already designing my T-Shirts with an outline of a handgun that says:
“I’m not bitter OR frustrated, I just believe in the Second Amendment.”
and, one with a Bible that says:
“I’m not bitter OR frustrated, I just believe in God.”
“Badges? We don’t need no stinking badges.”
“Now go do that voodoo that you do.”
“Where the white women at?”
“Oh yes, the Dr. Gillespie killings.”
etc.
Best entertainment on the web these days is DU. They are having a civil war (although most of the posters seem to be Obama supporters.) They hate Hillary, of course, but then there is the occasional Hillary poster who posts what was expressed in this article, Obama can’t win in the GE because of his associations and statements. If it goes to convention and Hillary somehow pulls out the nomination...Katie bar the door!
Speak of the devil, look at the post above yours.
Hedley Lamarr: Gentlemen, please rest your sphincters.
Governor William J. Le Petomane: [whistles] Have you gone beserk! Can't you see that man is a ni... [realizes he is talking to Bart]
Governor William J. Le Petomane: Hahaha, wrong person. [goes back to lead Hedley the same way]
Governor William J. Le Petomane: Have you gone beserk? Can't you see that man is a ni?
Hedley Lamarr: Elementary, cactus head.
Hillary to Richardson: “He can’t win Bill. He just can’t win.” lol
