COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A couple arguing about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said Thursday, reported KMGH-TV in Denver.
His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, told authorities she is a member of the Crips, police said. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman told police.

I can see how this could be a point of contention. Weighing out the pros and cons of each gang, the opportunities they have to offer their young son, the potential for growth within the organization. Which gang is cooler is surely in dispute, not to mention which gang wears the coolest stuff. This certainly is quite the conundrum.
Every cop I know in southern California has been called to disturbances where the 'father' who is not living with the mother, starts a fight because she wouldn't give him half the welfare check the kid 'generates'.

Perhaps instead of starting a college fund, the caring parents should begin a legal fund for the baby.
