(IsraelNN.com) Former US President Jimmy Carter says Palestinian Authority Arabs living in Gaza are being “starved to death” by Israel.
Carter made the claim speaking with students at the American University in Cairo on Thursday, saying that Gaza Arabs are receiving fewer calories per day than people in the poorest regions of Africa.
“It’s an atrocity, what is being perpetrated as punishment on the people in Gaza,” said Carter. “It is a crime… I think it is an abomination that this continues to go on.”
The former president has not actually visited Gaza; Israel declined to authorize his use of the Israel-Gaza crossings and there were no indications he requested an entry from Egypt.
Carter neglected to mention that the region’s crossings with the rest of Israel have been closed since the Islamist Hamas terrorist organization seized total control of the area and began launching constant attacks on Israeli civilians. He also didn’t mention that the crossings are opened daily for the delivery of humanitarian aid, including truckloads of food, medical and other supplies into Gaza.
On Thursday, while Carter was denigrating Israeli treatment of Gaza residents, Hamas terrorists infiltrated through the Kerem Shalom Crossing and attacked an IDF post while trucks were passing through the crossing with essentials for Gaza.
The terrorists attacked the same area in which IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in June 2006. Two soldiers were murdered and another soldier was seriously injured during that attack as well. Shalit’s condition and whereabouts are unknown; his parents have been hoping that Carter will be able to find out information about their son, if not convince his Hamas captors to free him altogether.
Despite the opposition of the American government, Carter was to meet Friday in Damascus with Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal, who is the apparent power behind Shalit’s kidnappers.
Carter met Thursday in Cairo with two senior Hamas officials from Gaza, Mahmoud al-Zahar and Said Seyam. The Israeli government refused to allow the former US president to meet in Gaza with the Hamas terrorists.

Carter is a knowing liar with regard to what is taking place regarding the Palestinians, Hamas, Gaza, Egypt and Israel.
He is meeting with the leaders if Hamas and Syria. He is giving terrorists stature, while the U.S. policy is to build up respect for more moderate Arabs. Anotherwords, Carter is working in a manner diametrically opposed to U.S. foreign policy. And that qualifies him for prosecution for trying to conduct foreign policy on the behalf of the United States.
He should land in prison for what he is doing.
Maybe something better will happen to him. Prison’s too good.

I don’t often criticize your President: he generally has done a fine job. But this trip should never have been permitted, and if Carter gets away with it unpunished, it will be a blight on GWB’s final days in office. That would indeed be a shame.
There remains nothing left to do but to arrest him upon his return and file charges. The damage will have been done, but in all not the worst of outcomes.

Didn’t Israel have some of the most advanced hydroponic greenhouses in Gaza, and when they left it, the Palis immediate set about looting it out of existence instead of caring for it to feed themselves?

Summary of Humanitarian Assistance to Gaza Today

IDF SPOKESPERSON'S UPDATE
Approximately 27 trucks of humanitarian aid and supplies were transferred into the Gaza Strip today via the Kerem Shalom crossing before it was forced to close due to the attack on the crossing. In addition, 800,000 liters of diesel fuel for heating and 240,000 tons of gas were transferred via Nahal Oz which also closed during the afternoon after Palestinian snipers fired at the crossing. The assistance was organized with the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.
The following is a list of supplies transferred through the Kerem Shalom crossing: oil, paper, meat, nylon bags used for greenhouses, rice, fruit and halva.
I’m sure they are dropping like flies there from hunger.
From what I’ve read the Israelis had built a remarkable greenhouse array to grow needed veggies. They turned to operation over to the Palis when they withdrew from the area.
The Palestinians simply went in like scavengers and took the pumps and piping and anything else of value and stripped it all down and sold it all for scrap.
So much for a profitable food growing business.
Now we’re told we need to contribute food for the Palis living there?
