Obama's secret weapon: the media
Politico ^ | April 18, 2008 | JOHN F. HARRIS & JIM VANDEHEI

My, oh my, but weren’t those fellows from ABC News rude to Barack Obama at this week’s presidential debate.

Nothing but petty, process-oriented questions, asked in a prosecutorial tone, about the Democratic front-runner’s personal associations and his electablity. Where was the substance? Where was the balance?

Where indeed. Hillary Clinton and her aides have been complaining for months about imbalance in news coverage. For the most part, the reaction to her from the political-media commentariat has been: Stop whining.

That’s still a good response now that it is Obama partisans—some of whom are showing up in distressingly inappropriate places—who are doing the whining.

The shower of indignation on Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos over the last few days is the clearest evidence yet that the Clintonites are fundamentally correct in their complaint that she has been flying throughout this campaign into a headwind of media favoritism for Obama.

Last fall, when NBC’s Tim Russert hazed Clinton with a bunch of similar questions—a mix of fair and impertinent—he got lots of gripes from Clinton supporters.

But there was nothing like the piling on from journalists rushing to validate the Obama criticisms and denouncing ABC’s performance as journalistically unsound.

The response was itself a warning about a huge challenge for reporters in the 2008 cycle: Preserving professional detachment in a race that will likely feature two nominees, Obama and John McCain, who so far have been beneficiaries of media cheerleading.

That’s why we need the dirty laundry out now, before the Dem nominee is decided.

MSM is his Dr. Frankenstein.

I don’t know if there are going to be enough torches and pitchforks to solve this problem.

There’s still a contest between the Democrats, so the MSM are pretty much divided. They don’t know which Democrat they want to win yet, but they do know that it must be a Democrat.

The ‘Brian and the Judge’ show on Fox radio has been carrying Obama’s water to such a degree that it is completely nauseating....calling Obama’s ‘Understanding Reverend Wright’ speech one of the best in American history.

Bull. The PROPAGANDISTS had to work overtime without pay to create a media protective bubble that Hillaryous could travel in...showing her charm, grace, dignity, style, flair, intelligence, etc., etc.

They...

A. Realized it was a daunting task, never before accomplished by propagandists with such a weak subject.

B. Are basically lazy and do not want to work that hard.

C. Realized it was easier to create the bubble with a lesser known subject.

D. All of the above.

I posted this before.

It happened after Wednesdays debate

Is Barack Smarter than a sixth grader?

The morning after the debate while driving my kids to school, the radio played an excerpt of Barack speaking...in which Barack says (to the effect) “China has 1 billion people and India has 700 thousand people”

My Daughter caught the mistake, India has now over 1 billion and China 1.3 billion...

Can someone confirm if this person was Barack? or not him?

...I was half asleep If this is True, Barack is NOT smarter than a sixth grader...Hahahahahah and he might be president

His greatest weakness is the media. They embargoed tremendous quantities of information on Obama and kept him from facing any serious scrutiny till Hillary got desperate.

I find it interesting that for the eight years we endured the Clinton Administration the drive-by media were asleep at the printing press when it came to examining the daily scandals of both the Clintons.

The press was slavish and almost in a constant state of orgastic jubilation concerning anything Clinton. He and she could do nothing wrong in their eyes. Even if they did, the press would marvel and wonder how does Bill lie with so much talent, or isn't it great fun watching Bill and Hillary make the republicans squirm and rant like a bunch of inept fools.

For the most part the drive-by media protected and uplifted the Clintons. Now they have had it, and certainly most are not enamoured with Hillary and for good reason. The woman is not a trustworthy or likeable individual who most assuredly lacks any experience other than obtaining over 1000 FBI Files of her political opponents, firing Billy Dale and the White House Travel Office Staff, heading up the Bimbo Eruption Unit, cleaning out Vince Foster's office, and spending a couple of days reading the Wall Street Journal before laying $1,000 dollars on a cattle futures buy that very soon after turned into $100,OOO, oh, and how can we forget, she founded the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, and found her billing records after two long hard years of looking for them, although she did find Kathleen Wiley's letters to Bill extremely fast.

As much as snakes shed their skin, perhaps the media is doing the same with the Clintons. They are tired of covering up for them.

“There’s still a contest between the Democrats, so the MSM are pretty much divided. “

No, they are pretty much in the tank for Obama at this point.

It’s pathetic really.

Obama had hundreds of millions to spend, and the media concocts more free media for him.

Here is a great comment on politico.com:

“It’s about time someone in the press called it for what it is! The democratic party and media have done everything they possibly can to push Hillary out but is she every tough! Isn’t that the characteristic we need in our president? Obama, on the other hand, has been handed pass after pass, excuse after excuse, and the media, particularly NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Washington Post, and NYT have been tip toeing around him for way too long. Why? What in the world do they see in him? He has been walking around so smug and arrogant as if he walks on water. But when he needs those blue collar votes he’s out there taking a six day bus tour across rural Pennsylvania milking cows, bowling scores of 37 (lol), etc. It is discusting and he really has some nerve “making fun” of HRC drinking at the bar. I am a lifelong democrat and have never voted republican in my life. I’m embarrassed to say that I even voted for Jimmy Carter. Well, if Hillary Clinton is not the democratic nominee, I will not hesitate to vote McCain. I may not agree totally with all his policies but I would feel safe. SNOBobama scares me and I would hate to think what would become of our nation and world if he were the president. However, I do NOT think he has a chance in the GE. The DNC is so stupid. They screw up every time they have a real shot at taking over the White House. Now, they want to shove this inexperienced, fluffy no substance, arrogant guy down our throats and what really makes me laugh is they really think that all democrats are going to vote for this guy in the fall just because he is running on the democratic ticket. Obama can fool the rich, far left liberals, college kids, and many african americans, but he can NOT fool all the democrats. He will NEVER get my vote and I hope the republicans rip him to shreds if he is the democratic nominee.”

Media did the same thing with Kerry and the swift-boaters.
